Giant Stink Beetle

Giant stink beetles, as in the name, a large beetle found around most of the world, except the Frost Lands. It is famous for releasing a noxious gas from its hard shell, and can be used in cooking as a liquid.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The insect has a hard exterior with four blue spikes on it. It has six legs, four green ones at the front and a pair at the back that are used for defense. They have a slightly darker blue underbelly, with a purple stinger on the end of the abdomen. It has two large pincers used to grab food.

Ecology and Habitats

Giant stink beetles are common in many environments, grasslands and plains, forests of any kind, and savannas. They are most common in forests and rainforests, due to the abundance of food.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The beetles are completely herbivorous. They eat a variety of grasses and other plants, cutting them up into small pieces with the pincers ready to eat. The pincers are so strong they can cut through tree roots and eat them.

Giant stink beetle gases are released through the twelve holes in its shell. This gas can be collected and used in cooking recipes when turned into a liquid. As a gas, it is very potent and when highly concentrated can cause someone to faint.
