Summer Camp 2025
It's been a while!
I've had to take a break from writing for a bit, and I'm craving to get back into building my world out for my books. I'm halfway through series planning, and in order to finish this, I need to have some specific things fleshed out. That means stubs. Lots of them.
I won't pretend to not be using this Summer Camp to get back into the swing of things, but that's kind of the whole point, isn't it?
Anyway, it's good to see you all again. Cheers to Summer Camp!
Theme 1: Nourishment
Nourishment is something a lot of us would say we lack nowadays. Be it access to good food, or proper health, or simply just the real enrichment each human needs to stay mentally healthy; we all are missing something. That's something that shows up in the worlds we create3, often in many different ways. There's something to be said for the common act of creation that nourishes us all.
Homework 1
Visctheria spends multiple cycles through times of abundance and times of famine. There is an entire Cradle in the Woven Worlds devoid of Magic50, and therefore life.
The Weaver nourishes them all to keep the story moving, and sometimes that nourishment pools in the folds of the Veil. Resources vanish in one area of the Cradles, and multiply in others, resulting in a careful dance of balance among the stars. So many lives are forever changed as the Magic shifts and moves, with a life of its own. Empires rise and fall, and people carry on.
There are so many methods of nourishment around the Woven Worlds, but I am going to choose to focus on the Magic system for this theme. There is so much left to flesh out, but now that I have the basic ideas I want to run with, I can actually start codifying it.
The Magic of Visctheria is taught in schools, certain groupings of Magic types that draw on particular focuses or strains of power. Each Magic user picks from those categories of Magic, and learns the skills enough to create their own style within that mode of use. There have been several cases of mixed Magic use, but never to any great success - in fact, usually the opposite.
I decided that for my check-in, I would go through each of my published articles so far. Gotta make sure they're all taken care of!

Theme 2: Roots
I've never really placed much stock in roots. As someone who moved fourteen times before my thirteenth birthday, I never really got to dig into life until I found worldbuilding. I was able to create something that felt real and permanent1 for the first time, and I became obsessed with building a world. This Summer Camp will mark a decade of work on that world, Visctheria. And of course, I started somewhere.
Homework 2
My focus needs to be Everia. That's where this whole story started, and it's where my first novels will be set in the world. Everia is the priority, since it's still so empty. At some point, I have to set aside character work for setting...
Updating my homepage felt simple at first, but I quickly realized there was more wrong with it than I
thought! The intro was too abstract and wordy, and I felt it gave too much away. I realized my primer was never completed, and am redoing it from scratch... but now I also have to fix some CSS that I'm currently praying no one will notice. Lots to do!
Revisting old notes is getting difficult, simply for the fact that all of my old notes are spread across old notebooks and Google
Drives. However, most of the important ones have already been digitized, so my review of my published articles - and my many, many drafts - gave me the recap I needed to continue forward!
Theme 3: Metamorphosis
Change is constant and inevitable. There have been hundreds of versions of this world penned by dozens of versions of me, both growing over the last ten years. This universe, these characters and places, the stories, have all grown up with me. There is no current me without this world, and there is no version7 of this world without me in it. But that's what creation is sort of about, and I'm proud to see the changes affect everything.
Homework 3
Visctheria experiences a lot of change over the forty thousand year timeline, of course, but this Summer Camp is focused on the Everian Ascension series. That narrows our focus squarely onto a paranoid country,
controlled by fear and prejudice. Betrayed by their geographical neighbors13 five hundred years ago, the borders are aggressive, the politics are fierce, and the characters are desperately loving in a time of hatred. There are no second chances in Everia, and everyone is rooting for their own team.
The characters are faced with countless challengers, intent on their demise as much as their success. They have no choice but to work together to survive, and bring an end to the religious conspiracy that holds the country in an iron grip.
I take a lot of inspiration from Kentaro Muira for the specific energy of the Everian Ascension.
Dark and gritty, fantastical but cosmically horrifying, the art style of Berserk - while not necessarily the story content - is a huge inspiration for how this story looks in my head. While this content isn't exactly new to me, I never finished it, so some of it is still unfamiliar. However, the art I see online is always hauntingly beautiful, simplistic, and gut-wrenching. It's the sort of energy I hope to create with this story.
I checked in with my buddies Strixxline, Mochimanoban, and Tillerz to see what their plan was for this Summer Camp!
I continually forget that people can do Summer Camp with more than one world, and I really would love to expand my efforts someday. Line's incredible art and variety of tone in their stories is always inspiring, and I love to see the range!
Continually I am inspired and amazed by Mochi's world, and their ability to pull you in with incredible art, good storytelling, and unbeatable CSS skills. I'm excited to see how they pull off their overhaul, and I will be learning from the example!
Tillerz always does incredible things, and I seriously am addicted to Duckuary. It's a problem. Anyway, a great friend and a fabulous creator, Tillerz!
Theme 4: Tomorrow
Nothing ever really goes to plan, does it? That certainly has been my experience with writing, and with life. Sometimes the story changes in a way you don't expect, things line up differently than they should, and you are forced to adapt. That's what tomorrow is for. Something didn't work, take a break and try again tomorrow16. There are only so many days that can be failures.
Homework 4
The entire reason I'm working on the Everian Ascension first is because this story influences the rest of the Emberglow arc- oops!
The story of Everia and the seven heroes that save it effects the rest of the stories along the Visctherian timeline, and it could even be argued that the echoes reach all the way post-Impact. There's a lot that started here, and there's a lot that must occur for the Woven Worlds to follow their story.
Here's where I keep track of what I'm currently working through on my world, so I keep my plans here, even for Summer Camp!
I'm planning to hunt down some accountibilibuddies to help me stay on track, and I'll also be posting as much as I can in the WA Discord's
Showcase channel to get my writing seen. That way my brain remembers to keep going, so I can keep getting the serotonin of showing off!
Everybody loves Camp Feral, led by the wonderful Line! I've been a proud member for several years, because I don't approach a single thing with calmness in mind. I'm in, or I'm out. Let's get Feral!
I'm including a puzzle for all of you this Summer Camp.
Since I'm focusing on finishing a specific part of my world so I can focus on my novels, I figure I'll start practicing leaving hints! This one will be in the form of an actual puzzle, that will give you something to look out for in my articles this Summer Camp!
There are a variety of superscripted numbers throughout this article as I discuss the homework. Those numbers are important, and will lead you to the tags of certain articles that will have relevant topics for the upcoming content in the Woven Worlds. See if you can find them!
Feel free to puzzle solve together in the comments, and link what articles you find for which numbers! I love to give hints as well!
Have a great Summer Camp!
You too! Best writing wishes!
