Thaya's Tears
Look out the window and you can see the waters of Gold Arrow River flow south to the lake we call Thaya's Tears. There the River's mundane waters mix with the interdimensional flow spilling out of the Kirinal Pit. Despite the mix of dead worlds' pollution, shipping traffic, and the occasional lava flow, the elves and druids of the Thayan Armada have kept the lake's ecosystem stable. The intricate system of elven locks and dikes are miracles of maharlitech engineering.
Sgt. Sunder and I love fishing in the Tears. You never know what you're going to catch! Sure, the elven locks keeps the worst stuff out, but every now and then a stray kraken or dimensional lake monster sneaks through! You haven't lived until you've pulled a magma shark out of a lava flow!
In the Age of Gods the great silver tree Menelost Telperion rose on the banks of the Kirinal River. Beneath its leaves the goddess Thaya mourned the loss of her love Rampol. The waters that flowed from her grief became the lake known as Thaya's Tears.
In the present day, the lake has kept its name as a memorial to the goddess' sacrifice. The dead, silver branches of Telperion still reach into the sky to meet its brother tree Lokorn on the Shattered Moon. The largest elven settlement in the Kirinal Concordance Zone now thrives on the lakeshore. From the tree itself, Telperion Skyships depart for the moons above and the scattered elven realms, using Menelost Telperion as their anchor and base.
The shores of Thaya's Tears blend into the edges of the Anomalous Forest and the lake shares the forest's chaotic ecology. The waters, fed by the intraplanar Kirinal River, carry invasive species from countelss worlds. Strange aquatic plants have adapted to the lake's everchanging currents. Unusual fish species and extraplanar predators lurk beneath the silvery surface.
Rangers and fisherman from Thaya's Vindicators work tirelessly to contain invasive lifeforms.
This is fun. I need like a TV show following the fishermen here. Like a River Monsters/Deadliest Catch crossover
