Maidens of Syracuse

The Maidens of Syracuse are extremely highly trained and strong due to their imbuement of magic from the Heart of Syracuse. However, their numbers are also small, less than a hundred maidens are alive at any point. Due to this they mostly server as guards in the upper levels of the Tower of Mages protecting the Heart of Syracuse.
Although, this does not mean they won't leave the tower. For any significant threat against Syracuse, the maidens are deployed to act as shock troops similar to cavelry, hitting hard and fast, opening flanks with their magic and slicing apart suvivors. The only time the maidens have lost a fight was during the Battle of Denor Diamond Mine against the Kingdom of Clir. They were deployed to break the enemies right flank. However, no one had expected the soldier from the Kingdom of Clir to have arrived before Syracuse's soldiers, and they were able to spring an ambush on the maidens, that led to the death of over 50 maidens.
