Emerald Forest

The Emerald forest is the largest and oldest forest on the two continents. It lies far north on the eastern shore of the Continent of Zyin, close to the Nothern Wilds. It has certain magical properties that makes the leafs slighlty shine green and never wither, earning the forest its name. It is rumored the forest is alive and has many other magical effects, but none have been proven definitely. It is a close and thick forest, with no clear landmarks making navigation very hard.
Many types of trees grow here, even some that grow nowhere else, like the Harren tree. This has lead to the belief that the Emerald Forest is the birthplace of all trees, perhaps even all plants. Of the scholars and wizards who tried to venture into the Emerald Forest and examine it, only few came back, fewer still with any semblance of answers. One wizard in particular, Jeremia Elskivia, discovered that the Emerald Forest has an abundance of Feywild portals. Usually these portals are few and far between, especially since they aren't permanent. However, Jeremia Elskivia found at least one portal a day while exploring the forest, a feat that should be impossible for even the best portal hunter. Furthermore, Jeremia Elskivia discovered that these portals leak more magic than is common for them to do, most likely leading to the forests unique magical properties. Ironically, what made Jeremia Elskivia expedition into the Emerald Forest most famous was the discovery of the Moonshroom of which Jeremia Elskivia brought back samples off to grow. Today it is grown all over the two continents and has a common place on the blackmarket.
