Emotol Nesskan
Overview
Emotol Nesskan is a silver dragonborn and former paladin of a now-scattered order. She once served as a protector of frontier settlements in the lowlands south of the Mistmire, but left her oath behind to raise a family in peace. She now lives in the village of Beech Sadak with her husband Celralan and their daughter Umberoza.
Though her oathbound days are past, her resolve has not faded. Emotol remains a vigilant and capable warrior, and the villagers speak of her strength with a mixture of reverence and gratitude. Her old armor is patched but well maintained, and her sword still rests within reach.
Disposition
Emotol is loving, protective, and wise. She speaks plainly, but rarely without thought. Her presence is calm but commanding, and she watches others with quiet discernment. While she avoids unnecessary conflict, she will not hesitate to draw steel to defend her family or her village.
She believes deeply in choice — it was her choice to leave her oath, her choice to raise her daughter in secret, and her choice to teach Umberoza how to survive in a world that fears her kind. She regrets little, but worries often.
History
In her younger years, Emotol served in a militant order dedicated to protecting the borderlands. The details of that order are rarely spoken aloud, and Emotol does not often share them. Some say she was once a captain; others believe she left after a personal loss or moment of doubt.
She settled in Beech Sadak with Celralan, and shortly after Umberoza's birth, discovered her daughter's true heritage. Emotol chose to keep Umberoza’s black scales hidden through illusion magic, fearing what the world might do to a child born under the shadow of such prejudice.
Her bond with Umberoza is quiet, trusting, and unshakeable. She respects her daughter’s decisions, even when they bring risk.
Role in the Village
Though she holds no formal title, Emotol is considered a guardian figure by many in Beech Sadak. She instructs young villagers in self-defense when needed, and her presence in disputes often ends them before they escalate. While her husband leads through consensus, Emotol ensures stability through vigilance.
Appearance
Tall and broad-shouldered, Emotol’s silver scales glint like pale steel under sunlight. Her armor is functional rather than ornate, visibly repaired from years of use. Her white hair is often pulled back beneath a simple helm or bound with leather cord. She rarely wears anything ornamental, save for a small token of her old order worn beneath her collar.
