Lapis Lazuli Dagger

Article Contents

ARTICLE CONTENTS
The Gissu or Deep Elves faction of Fire Elves makes their weapons entirely out of stone or crystal and uses metal only to wrap the handle or add decoration. Their ability to shape stone is unmatched among all factions of the Fire Elves, but due to their differing beliefs, they stay hidden in the deepest places of The Moon Izi and their weapons often stay there with them.

Imara

Imara
"This knife was given to me by Garna Sephiru, the chief priestess of the Deep Elves. She said that I can use it to focus my mana and with it I'll be able to finally cast Fire Magic with it!

But I still can't figure it out! I can use water and earth just fine, but fire is beyond me for some reason! This is impossible!"
One of the only exceptions to that is this lapis lazuli dagger. It was gifted to Imara after she ventured into the deep wilds for the first time. she tries to keep the blade hidden when she is in Jirra so the Zalan or Bright Elves wouldn't get angry with her, but since she was forced out of the caverns and labeled a heretic, that didn't really matter anymore. She kept the dagger openly visible on herself after that.

Construction

the Fire Elves, with the Blessing of Beirunes are able to heat their bodies to incredibly high temperatures. They take advantage of this with their stone working. They use their hands to melt and shape stone, and they use their mana to stabilize any crystals that may ignite due to the high temperatures. In the case of the Lapis Lazuli dagger, Pyrite can ignite and even explode, so the use of mana is important in shaping the dagger.

The Deep Elves apply an additional technique to their weapons after shaping them. Unlike Bright Elves who will make the bladed parts of their weapons out of bronze, the Deep Elves will make the entire weapon out of crystal and stone, while usually using bronze only for decoration purposes. After shaping a blade out of stone, the Deep Elves will then take diamond dust and using their power, will melt down the dust and apply a thick reflective coating along the entire surface of the blade. The result is a beautiful looking weapon that is also as functional as any bronze or iron blade.

  • History

The history of this dagger actually goes back several thousand years. The Chief Priestess of the Deep Elves, Garna Sephiru, had this dagger created to commemorate an alliance between the three factions of Elves. She chose Lapis Lazuli as the stone for the weapon because the three minerals making up the dagger represented each of the three factions of elves. The Deep Elves had a preference for water magic. The Bright Elves had a preference for fire magic. The Ash Elves had a preference for earth magic. Three of these daggers were created. She kept one and the other two daggers were each gifted to the chief priest of the Ash elves and the chief Priestess of the Fire Elves.

Then two hundred years ago, a human expedition from the world of Vreathe threw everything on the world unto upheaval. With knowledge of a portal to Vreathe, the Ash elves were demanding that their god Beirunes allow them to invade the other world. The Bright Elves took the side of the Ash Elves, leaving the Deep Elves to sue for peace. Fortunately for the Deep Elves, Beirunes objected to an invasion. The Ash Elves became incensed and mounted an invasion force anyways.

The Bright Elves and Deep Elves formed an army to defeat the Ash Elves. After a war that lasted several years, the Ash Elves were completely defeated and forced away from the portal to Vreathe. The Bright Elves then broke their alliance with the Deep Elves, though the reasons for that are unknown.

As for the Lapis Lazuli Daggers, the Ash Elves destroyed theirs, casting it into a Lava Sea. The Bright Elves destroyed their dagger by striking it with a Pyrite Axe, causing the dagger to explode into a thousand tiny pieces. Because of this, the only one of the three daggers that remained was with the Deep Elves... At least until a certain half-elf came along and wandered into the Deep Wilds.

Sensing that this girl was not entirely of the world of Izi, but also of Vreathe, the chief priestess gifted Imara this dagger, hoping that she would be the one to unite people and worlds separated by centuries of hate. She didn't know that this hope might be tested so soon, when recently humans passed through a portal and ended up on Izi once again. Imara was fated to meet them, and the fate of two worlds might depend on her.

Garna Sephiru, the Chief Priestess of the Deep Elves and the creator of the three daggers. She originally called the them the Amagi or Treaty daggers. Since the alliances fell apart and two of the weapons were destroyed that name hasn't been used in quite some time.
