Grávenholm

In the heart of the Kingdom of Gráshk lies Grávenholm, a sprawling city built within the crater of an ancient meteorite. Over generations, the land has transformed from a barren scar into a fertile haven, attracting settlers and growing into a bustling metropolis. Grávenholm is now a vibrant yet shadowed city, where towering spires overlook cobblestone streets and where power and ambition drive the lives of its diverse inhabitants.

Grávashk is ruled by the mysterious High King Rykul Grávens, called the "Cursed King" in hushed whispers, whose reign has been marred by calamity and misfortune since the tragic deaths of his wife and child on the day of his coronation. The kingdom has endured freak storms, plagues, and rebellions, leading to widespread unrest and a growing sense of despair among its people.

Amidst this turmoil, a rebellion has risen, led by a man claiming to be a distant cousin of the royal family. Promising to restore peace and prosperity, this movement has gained support from those who believe the kingdom's misfortunes are signs of divine disfavor and that a new ruler is needed to bring Grávashk back from the brink.

Government

The city of Grávenholm operates under a hierarchy centered around the High King and the Council of Eighteen. Each of the nine Parishes sends two High Wardens, appointed directly by the king, to sit on this council and represent their regions. Supporting the High Wardens are a number of other positions that handle things like local disputes, infrastructure, and tax collection.

The Vigilant Order are the local guardsman, all of whom have to undergo a formal military training of two to four years. The most skilled are selected to be the Raven Guard, who personally attend the royal family and those with the proper lineage. It is an honor to be recruited for The Vigilant Order and it's often believed that if one makes it into the Raven Guard, their families are taken care of for life.
