Wescia

After a catastrophic civil war around 4300 years post-fragmentation, a young woman named Cai-Aspen traveled the remains of the nation. She claimed to have experienced a vision of the gods—that in the darkest era of that nation, it would be showered in stardust and reborn as a fertile land of prosperity. She gained a small following, yet much of the despaired populace ignored Aspen's prophecy. The war had left most without the time to pursue such a thing, as they were clinging to life as is.

In 4306, a neighboring faction invaded to take advantage of the nation's unfinished recovery. As it reached the capital, however, the skies seemed to unfold upon itself. Clouds shifted from the night sky, and a constellation of stars in the shape of a shield started to glow. Then, they exploded, shining brighter than any light on Veilinia. The enemy faction was subsequently wiped out by beams of light from the cosmos, and the explosion could be seen for months afterward in the sky. Cai-Aspen disappeared that night, never to be seen again, but her followers became devout and formed the nation "Wescia," which they called themselves when they were merely following one of many prophets. The sight was painted many times by those who witnessed it and became the primary inspiration for the nation's emblem.

Until the Rising, Wescia was one of the most powerful nations in the East, its tale of the stars coming to the land's defense fending off potential assailants. Unfortunately, its "Starlit Aegis" did not come to its defense the second time, and its soldiers couldn't handle the uncouth tactics of the Risen. Because much of the nation thought they would be saved again, Wescia lost the most relative population out of any other country, even compared to the Free City of Xocrin, which had no time to react.

Structure

Wescia is governed by the Council of Starlit Emissaries, the descendants of Cai-Aspen's followers. They write laws, direct funds, and in rare circumstances, will be involved in capital punishment. They work in a massive tower that places them the closest to the stars. All that they do is "God's will."

The Star Seers are religious leaders in Wescia. They advise the Council, oversee spiritual matters, and are actual figureheads that partake in ceremonies.

The military branch of Wescia is known as the Force of Aegis. It's led by a figure called the Sentinel, who is the only one in the order involved in meetings between the prior.

Culture

Religion plays a critical role in just about anywhere in Wescia. They are all very patriotic, believing Wescia to be the chosen one of the Eastern nations. They celebrate the day of celestial intervention annually, and all of their festivities revolve around it, too. Art and music are most prevalent in Wescia in dedication to the Starlit Aegis.

Public Agenda

The Council has always aimed to create a nation that fits Cai-Aspen's vision. Its sole purpose is to ensure the nation's prosperity. Despite having the most neighboring countries out of any in the East, Wescia is surprisingly isolationist and doesn't want to expand. This is caused by the belief that the Aegis only protects what is truly Wescia, not what is acquired. Thus, Wescia's goal is to preserve itself and its people.

Disbandment

Wescia's faith in the Starlit Aegis was all for naught. Perhaps expectedly, as the stars were no longer in the sky, no intervention killed all of the Risen as it did the plunderers thousands of years ago. Many of the nation's people believed it would, though, so it has no mainland territory remaining.
