Kaelen Frostshade
Kaelen Frostshade is a resident of Ironholt and Thrainn Frostmane's first great love. He is a fiery blacksmith and former aspiring warrior. Their relationship began in their teenage years and was marked by the kind of intensity that only youth can bring. Kaelen forged Thrainn’s first frostforged sword, which Thrainn carried throughout his early campaigns. Though their love burned brightly, Kaelen chose a quieter life, eventually settling down while Thrainn’s path took him far from home. The two parted on good terms, and Kaelen still sends letters to Thrainn, offering advice and encouragement.
Kaelen and Thrainn famously worked together again during the events of the so-called The Leviathan Hunt. When a massive leviathan threatened Ironholt’s northern fishing villages, Thrainn led a perilous expedition to slay the creature. Armed with a harpoon enchanted by Kaelen, Thrainn struck the killing blow, securing the safety of the villages and earning further acclaim. The weapon, now called Kaelen's Fang, is considered a royal treasure of Ironholt and is kept in a fort along the northern coast.
Kaelen is good friends with Thrainn's current partner Dorian Icequill, whose family helped develop the frostforge techniques Kaelen practices.
