Emric Valenholt
Emric Valenholt is a human male in his elder years. His once black hair is starting to fade, and he has the pale skin of a Valenholtan who has not seen the sun for years. He dresses in well made, but simple clothes for a nobleman. Close investigation reveals threadbare elbows and cleverly hidden patchwork. He prefers to meet visitors in his house and detests going outside. His mood is typically bored.
Role in the Story of Lira Valenholt
The Lady Lira Valenholt was wed to Emric Valenholt as a marriage of convenience for both of their families. During their brief time together, they respected and aided each other. Shortly after their wedding, Emric and much of the Valenholt family were sent to the remote Western region of Vinterhaven due to falling from favor politically. Emric and Lira took on stewardship of the town of Thalbrae. The town was sullen and grim, having failed to recover from the Riftwinter Incident. Emric tried to make the best of a bad situation while Lira grew increasingly uneasy. Eventually, Lira struck out alone and faced down a dark, evil presence in the surrounding forest. As a result, Thalbrae was granted a repreive and began to improve, but Emric was left a widower.
Emric remains as the reclusive Mayor of Thalbrae to this day. While he has overseen the reversal of the town's once grim fortunes, he has not recovered personally from his family's shame and the loss of his wife.
