History
Childhood
Athena grew up to be a stubborn but fierce fighter, and her determination often landed her in challenging situations. Her lifelong aspiration was to become the tribe's Tidecaller, a prestigious title granted to a formidable warrior responsible for safeguarding the Cloven Crystal, a powerful artifact that held Tromokratis' essence in check.
In accordance with the customs of her people, those deemed worthy were selected as the Tidecaller upon reaching adulthood, marking the beginning of a significant quest. The primary objective of this quest was to confront Dashilla and her Merrow, aiming to recover the cloven Crystal responsible for imprisoning Tromokratis' power and ensuring its safeguarding.
Throughout her quest, Athena found herself entwined with
Triton, the heir to the Merfolk kingdom. As they faced challenges together, a love blossomed between them.
Betrayal
1136 AD
The
Garrot was a pirate ship that had escaped the sea elves and the authorities for four months, hugging the coast to avoid patrols. It reached the Gulf of Mermaids, where its crew had orders to join forces with the pirate
Marjani Flintwill.
Wellan, a member of the Garrot, used his old ties with the merfolk to trick them into thinking he meant to help. He claimed he would stop Marjani from stealing the crystal guarded by the sea fury, Dashila — a lie the merfolk believed.
Three days underwater took Wellan, four pirates, and twenty merfolk to Dashila’s lair. There, they found Marjani already locked in battle with the sea fury. Wellan turned on the merfolk, revealing his true allegiance. He and Marjani killed Dashila, and Marjani took the crystal.
Meanwhile, the sea elves’ tracking
Magic picked up the Garrot’s position again. They warned the merfolk that the ship had strayed into their waters, and when no word came back from Dashila’s lair, the merfolk feared the worst. They moved to intercept the Garrot, forcing the pirates to flee without Wellan,
Rudy, and
Rixa Rae Silver to avoid facing the full wrath of the merfolk.
This betrayal shattered Athena's trust in land dweller.
late 1136 AD
The
Crystal ocean was once a vast inland sea. However, when Tromokratis was unleashed in 1136 AD, his rage shattered the world. The titan's fury destroyed the mountain range that once connected
Green earth and Siniador, transforming the Crystal Sea into the Crystal Ocean.
In the aftermath, the merfolk and mermaids who had long inhabited the region fled to the
Elemental Plane of Water, abandoning the underwater city of Kelpheart, led by Athena to their new home, away from the problems of land dweller and this world.
