Personal history
Though born as the prince of The Drakelaw in the marches, Dovkaal's world was turned upside-down when his father was murdered in a coup perpetrated by his father's trusted adviser, Tyretius Maye. He was able to escape, now a young recently-knighted half-dragon, all alone in the world (at least, except for his manservant, Sancho).
Dovkaal found work as a mercenary (though he preferred the term "White Knight"), taking contracts more out of an interest to help out (in his own misguided way) than to make money.
One of these contracts brought him together with a group of other adventurers hired to rescue the small village of Wheatlon from ensuing disaster as the ImperialReconquest of the Southwood Reconquest of the Southwood broke out. This journey and the adventures that followed led to a new confidence in himself, and powerful allies like Duke John d'Rogn and Queen Santia d'Oliver of Nevarris . It was also here that he met his future wife, Lady Garcia vas Dael. He slew the dragon who had impersonated Duke William vas Dael, securing an alliance with the Kingdom of Nevarris.
He and his allies marched south, and defeated Tyretius Maye, restoring Dovkaal to the throne. Though he had initially promised amnesty during the campaign, a reign of terror (at least, for nobles) followed, where nobles that had opposed him or had participated in the conspiracy against his father were rounded up and executed.
