Personal history
At some point in the life of the young lord of Vollonde, the real lord disappeared and was, unbeknownst to anyone else in his life, replaced by a mysterious, scheming green dragon who had no doubt been planning this scheme to seize power for some unknown time. The dragon arranged a marriage to Queen Santia's mother, then at some point, eliminated her, instead becoming betrothed to then-princess Santia d'Oliver. He reigned as Lord Protector of Nevarris until Santia came of age, and nearly succeeded in his plan to eliminate her shortly after her coronation-and their wedding.
This plan was foiled when the Wheatlon party discovered his conspiracy and attempted to assassinate him preemptively. Though their attempt failed and they were captured, they were able to escape his clutches thanks to the timely assistance of Wheatlon party member Aoth Sepret,
who had managed to avoid being captured by vas Dael's guards.
The party managed to stop the wedding in time, and pursued vas Dael as he fled with the captive queen across the lake. They intercepted the dragon, who now fought them in his monstrous form until they slew him, his great corpse crashing into the lake below. To this day, no one knows who he was, what his ultimate goals were, how long he had interfered in Nevarine politics, or if he had any knowing collaborators.
The fact that their nation was unwittingly ruled by a wicked dragon for so long has become a new major point of friction between Caerluen and Nevarris. Some of Prince Samuel's most prominent advisers now openly allege that even the Nevarine revolt was driven by the dragon's machinations, and thus the secession was illegitimate and ought to be reversed.
