First Hyperion - HEX War

War between the Hyperion Federation and HEX Mainframe. The HM, obviously, wanted to assimilate the population of HF into their collective, making them the aggressors. By this point, though, the HF has established an intergalactic alliance with many races.   While the HM would not end up wiping the HF from the map, it did manage to gain a number of populated worlds despite the fierce hyperion resistance.

The HM started on the offensive. For a very short time, their advance was rapid as the HF had to send reinforcements. Only a few worlds were captured in this time. The HM could recieve HF comms (this war happened before QEC was invented. HF had the technological advantage however, so the HM could not decode most recieved transmissions.   After the reinforcements arrived, the war became locked in a stalemate. The hyperionites fought fiercely, making unpredictable use of every doctrine they know, such as the Paladin, Annihilator, Praetorian Ambush and Paladin doctrines. This made it more difficult for the HM to adapt before the battle and give the HF the upper hand at the beginning of most battles. They would then destroy as many HM ships as they can to gain a firepower advantage for the battle. This way, the HF won about half their battles.  This stalemate lasted for several years and resulted in a lot of deaths. The HM assimilated a lot of hyperionites because of this and eventually got the upper hand and broke the stalemate. However, the HF never lost their high morale. They built their Nicoll-Dyson Beam in Odyros. The tide was finally turned in the hyperionites' favor when they nuked several systems important to the HM. Huge counterattacks happened, and Hyperion morale increased more. They retook their worlds, freeing those people from the HM cybernetic implants. They even captured some HM worlds and freed them from the cybernetic implants. Eventually, the surprise was lost. The HM started making a counterattack and eventually got the offensive. By this point, the HF already began a mass evacuation from the threatened worlds and gaineed a small part of several species that was defeated by the HM millenia back. The HM regained their territory, without population, and launched attacks on the Ilioneus galaxy. The HM did not get far before the end of the war.   The HF lost 200 billion lives in the war and acquired 14 billion across 9 species of the HM. The HM lost 180 billion lives in the war and acquired 48 billion across 11 species of the HF.
