HEX Intelligence Hacking

A technology used by the HEX Mainframe to hack into the systems of other factions and recover information, or intelligence. 

HEX Intelligence Hacking (or Intel Hacking) is important to the effectiveness of the HM military, as it is on of their primary sources of intel. They see spies and recon forces as quite outdated and prefer to recover information directly from enemy computers. They cannot, however, easily take control of enemy computers so this type of hacking is heavily specialised towards information gathering. Furthermore, taking control of enemy computers is likely to reveal their presence in enemy systems, so this type of mission is rarely performed. A key reason that the HM are so good at hacking is because they are an AI hivemind already and they have access to huge numbers of immense AI data centers. As one of the more advanced factions technologically, they can significantly compound the processing power of their data centers and use strategies that less advanced factions barely understand. This gives them a significant edge over low tech factions, particularly small star nations rather than the 8 large factions which dominate galaxies.

This is notably less effective against the Hyperion Federation due to the technology gap, so often the Karnol Caretakers and Sulethis Republic seek alliances with them so that the hyperionites can coordinate the assaults or defences. The HF also has QEC technology allowing them to communicate instantly across any distance. The HF have also helped them develop protocols against this technology. These protocols are executed often out of sheer paranoia of enemy intelligence services. However, there have been times where the HM managed to infiltrate even HF systems following a concentrated effort. This is a scary prospect for many people of the HF societies, as they realise that misuse of their technology can be extremely dangerous as what happened to the Rih’kiel Remnant. Should the HM understand HF technology enough, they would surely arm their own military with it and use it to spread their domain yet further, and no other faction wants that. If this happens, they could doom the entire Fortrais cluster to HEX assimilation, so the HF constantly ensures that their archives are extremely difficult to breach, making them very secure.
