Green I Ancient Megastructure
A large ancient structure build on Green I.
Though the structure is not of Hyperion Federation origin, the HF studies this structure a lot in order to determine facts about the history of the civilization that did build it. Though time has not been kind to it, it seems to still function, despite its function not being known to anyone. It resembles a massive pyramid, with a number of strange details which makes it more closely resemble other ancient structures in the system.
Strangely, a larger number of green sparks can be seen around the structure, perhaps they are meant to give power to the technology of this ancient civilization, but there is no concrete evidence for this. This theory is implied by the Starchaser Ruin, which gives off a faint green glow when struck by small energy discharges. If this theory is correct, it is not known why all of the planets have such different energy sources.
One theory suggests that this structure is the source of the green sparks on Green I, rather than the star. This theory also implies that other structures exist on the other planets which each serve the same role in vastly different ways. Other theory suggests that each planet held an entirely different role for the economy, such as, for example, Green I being used for mining, Green II as a fortress world, Green III as an industrial planet and so on. If this theory is correct, the roles that each planet had are not known at all and the above examples are just examples. It is thought that the different types of green sparks were better suited to the needs of some roles than others.
The Green I structure is also quite large, and also attracts a large number of tourists. The top of the Green I ancient megastructure is a well known tourist destination for those who visit the planet, and anyone t hat reaches the top will be able to see for a very large distance. There are a large numbers of photos for this on the Grand Archive, most of which are taken by various tourist cameras. The structure is about 7 km in height, which gives it a similarly sized base, about 7 km2.
Scientists have also entered the structure to study its internal workings. Its function is still not understood but it is relatively safe inside the structure as it is virtually immune to geological disruption, such as volcanoes and earthquakes. Many rooms inside also have significant life support systems installed by the HF, allowing people to live inside it without needing specialised PPE equipment. It is not perfectly safe however; time has not been kind to it and there are significant rusted parts, as well as decay. Some parts of the ancient structure might have formed sharp points or slippery areas which demand careful navigation. As such, civilians have only limited access in the structure, and scientists who venture deep into it must hold the necessary licenses to enter.
