The 7 Sands

The 7 Sands are the closest thing the Orsai have to sacred land. It used to be a trial of worth to see how far you could make it inside while battling the elements. They would prove this by bringing back a small pouch of sand from the farthest region they could reach. Reaching Blackwind gave a special status to whoever made it because of its hostile environment, even though Ambergrit is further east. But people rarely go for Blackwind, mostly Sapphiloam, Fuschiand or Pearldune. Their pouches are kept with them til the day they perish. This stopped when the Sandsharks moved in, refusing the removal of the sand before eventually attacking the Orsai for it. Bitterness has pervaded throughout both sides now, and with the Sandsharks criminalizing the sands removal, things have only worsened. But a few small smuggling operations have started with a few Orsai and Sharks working together.

Geography

The 7 colored sands that lay behind the mountains toward Ashenia. They are also known as Major Sands.
  1. Blackwind the Black desert.
  2. Sapphiloam the Blue desert.
  3. Emergrain the Green desert.
  4. Ambergrit the Orange desert.
  5. Fuschiand the Pink desert.
  6. Peridust the Purple desert.
  7. Pearldune the White desert.
Next are the smaller deserts called Minor Sands. These are smaller colored sands that exist on the borders between two Major Sands. Their colors are often a mix between the two major sands they're sandwiched between.
  • Ochrelip
  • Rosestrand
  • Corralia
  • Mauvank
  • Skyfall
  • Malacoal
Last are the areas known as the Fading Sands. These areas once were part of the Major Sands but for unknown reasons continuously shrunk. They now exist as disconnected pockets in other regions.
  • Shimmer Vale, remnant of the Yellow Desert
  • Aubrim, remnant of the Red Desert

The 7 Sands also have a river of sand just beneath the surface thats very hard for people to see and can suck people into it leading to suffocation.

Localized Phenomena

The sands of the 7, the many shards of bones and flesh of the dragons never lost their magical potency. Things, or beings as old as them are like energy engines. Their very presence has enough magic to alter their surroundings, even dead.  It is why the sands are so successful, oceans within 30 miles teem with fish and the sands are filled with wildlife. The area gives a very subtle feeling which goes unnoticed, but it's why the sharks don't want to leave and why the orsai want them gone.

Tourism

Emergrain, Ambergrit and Fuschiand are the beach locations. And tourists usually flock to these places more often than other. The sands are simply to hot for most to enjoy.
