The Council of 8 Seats

The 8 Seats is the name given to the council charged with care and monitoring of Staryamol University. The 8 are democratic in nature, and are (usually) made up of the University's longest-attending, and most-loyal students and staff. The Seat's members do not have unique titles or standing that gives them any additional sway or responsibility in specific areas of the university: they all vote on all matters, and all votes are considered equal, but members with diverse fields of knowledge are often prioritised to ensure all aspects of the university are observed and managed properly. In the event of a tie in voting, the vote of the Head Master (who must be a Seat) breaks ties.

Determining a New Seat

Whenever a Seat of the 8 is emptied, the remaining 7 each propose a candidate to fulfil the role from among the ranks of students and staff at the university. After presenting, the Seats then vote on who they think would fulfil the role best (though no Seat can vote for their own candidate, unless another Seat has also proposed them).
