Staryamol University
The Staryamol University has existed in Aederace since 1111 A.F., and is well known for its magic education facilities. Staryamol's long standing has allowed it to expand its curriculum significantly to incorporate all forms of education and knowledge suitable for nobles and lords across Aederace, though, of course, anyone with the coin can attend.
Staryamol's main campus is located in Beaufurt, Aederace, though its reach extends internationally in the pursuit of knowledge and the preservation of history and culture. Each campus of Staryamol has a master, but the organisation itself is headed by The Council of 8 Seats, and lead by the Head Master Iridan Aristatov.
Degrees at Staryamol
Aspiring students who attend Staryamol may leave after a number of years of study with one of the following certificates indicateing their successes in their studies.- Adeptus Degree: requires 2 years of full time study
- Applicus Degree: requires 4 years of full time study
- Honourus Degree: requires 2 years of full time study, following a previously attained Applicus Degree
- Doctorus (PhD): requires at least 3 years devoted to a unique study, following the attainment of an Honourus Degree.
- Master: a title and certificate given to those who have devoted at least 10 years in a specific area of magic or knowledge.
History
Beaufurt's prosperity sprung from the surprise discovery of vast gemstone wealth below the Beau Mountains. Staryamol University was founded by the students of Vincent Staryamol VI, a mage raised and educated in Pliedius who moved to Staryamol in search of cheaper spellcasting components. While experimenting in Beaufurt, Staryamol gathered a following of aspiring wizards and mages, and eventually his weekly tutorials became very crowded. By the time Vincent Staryamol died in 1096 A.F., he had made over 500 presentations, to classes as great as 200 students at a time. His 8 chosen apprentices took it upon themselves to continue the weekly lessons for a time, before electing to begin a formal univeristy which they named after the late master.
