Jupiter Brain
Jupiter Brains are named after the Human Sol system's largest planet, Jupiter; while Jupiter had a volume of 140,000^15 cubic kilometers, most Jupiter Brains are actually much smaller than this size. These artificial planetary structures are more metallically dense than most natural planets, filled with circuitry, power production, cooling systems, with literal light years worth of cables all carefully wired out to create a machine capable of calculating almost anything. The power of near infinite calculation, to simulate a consciousness on par with a god, only constrained by its immense heat output.
Utility
Unlike modern computers, Jupiter Brains are much like the original "Computation Devices," their comparably ridiculously immense power is used for extremely specific tasks that would require such a machine, and access is restricted to only a specific set of individuals.
Currently, the galaxy only has a few Jupiter Brains at its disposal, their sheer density requiring hundreds of solar systems worth of materials alone.
The The Uprising of the Rakkari has the most Jupiter Brains, at 4 - one of these is dedicated exclusively to the processing power required to run The Phaneron, while the other three run a majority of the Faction's galactic-wide systems.
Paragon Horizons has 2, one dedicated to running stock market calculations, and the other to manage the ridiculously complex bureaucracy that the huge Faction requires to be run.
The Dominion has 2, both used to run cyberwarfare and information campaigns.
The High Order has 1, used mostly as a testing bed for various "small" simulations. This is due to the Faction's ownership of the only Matrioshka Brain in the galaxy.
Eden has 1, which houses their enigmatic governmental body "Observer," though where it resides is unknown.
Manufacturing
The creation of a Jupiter Brain requires hundreds of years of effort, even with entire Factions worth of materials and labor. It's astonishing that the galaxy has so many of them, truly.
