Irisis Disease

CW: Vomiting, Death, Blood, Spiders

Transmission & Vectors

Irisis is transmitted by blood-clot spiders (Lumena Cruor) via biting the individual from there the individual may or may not contract the illness. Those who have contracted it transmit it via blood entering the uninfected individual

Symptoms

Show Possibly triggering imagery
Once bitten the individual will be fine until a few weeks later where they will begin vomiting violently and coughing up blood at this point the disease is highly infectious. Affected will experience intense hallucinations varying in content but generally involving gruesome death and dismemberment of themselves and those close to them. About four weeks into the infections symptoms the body will begin to decay beginning with the tail or wings this occurs while the individual is still alive at this point the disease is impossible to cure a few days later they will die.

Treatment

The condition can only be treated in the early stages using an anti venom of the Blood-clot spider diluted with crushed lightning raptor spines from Qialorath. The treatment is quite enpensive as lightning raptors aren't a commonplace in Qialorath and they charge a high amount to only get a few spines

Sequela

If the individual is able to treated in time they will have an extremely weakened immune system and a simple cold could be enough to kill them. They will also be less likely to get infected again even with a weakened immune system. Physical side affects from being affected include weakened wings, discoloration of skin or scales, flakey and soft scales, and fatigue

Hosts & Carriers

The lumen cruor or blood clot spider is a carrier of the disease and is not affected by it the disease seems to be a combination of the venom and the spiders diet of mosquitoes

Prevention

Individuals can lessen the risk of getting infected by wearing armour, not going near the spider and getting vaccinated at a young age there is still a risk even if they are vaccinated and wearing armour and the only sure fire method to prevent infection is the avoid the spider altogether
