SC Summer Reading Corner 25

Summer was lovely while it lasted, now didn’t it? All the hot and cozy days are now behind us, and so is our beloved summer camp for this year, with so many articles having been written in such a short period of time, and it can be hard to choose which ones to pick this year, as so many were just that good. After a brief break and reviewing numerous articles, I have found what I am looking for in terms of writing style to showcase to the rest of the community. So give an applause and a like to the writers and their work that now stand in the spotlight.
The Collision
Generic article | Jun 7, 2025

The destructive collision and partial merger of the human and elven worlds

Writer: Tiyu Amara   World: Isaac Thompson   It's all fun and games till reality-altering events start to change the fabric of the entire reality out of nowhere. In the event known as the Collision, two distinct planes of existence have collided, affecting the people who live here and creating a brand-new existence where both sides must figure out how to deal with the consequences. This has forever changed events, as Humans and elves must now live alongside one another when they should have done so in the first place.   Note: Add better depth and effect to people affected by a massive event involving geological and cosmic events.
Wyvern Riders
Military Formation | Aug 2, 2025

The Wyvern Riders are infamous across the world for their sheer bravery and audacity. Few aerial units leave what keeps them airborne to fall through the skies and land in the battle, but these chosen few continuously make the jump, serving House Sunder.

Writer: RiverFang   World: Isekai   Take to the skies with the famous aerial riders that use Wyverns to head off into battle with courage and valor. Those who can meet the demands of the job are often considered some of the greatest of fighters across the land that few can match while on their scaly mounts. Yet some find them also insane as they willingly jump off their wyverns to attack their enemies with deadly precision.   Note: Add greater cultural background when involving military units to understand them better.
Good Children's House
Organization | Aug 2, 2025
Writer: Worldwildbuilder   World: Chronicles of Hysal   In a world ravaged by war and strife, it is often those who are caught in the middle who are to pay the price, mainly the children who have no place to go. Luckily for them, the Good Children's House, run by the Good Sister, provides a place to feed and shelter them from the unforgiving world. Giving them a chance to be around other children and learn a basic education until they are allowed to be adopted.   Note: Add smaller places and groups into the world for more realism rather than grand scale.
Festival of Halinn
Tradition / Ritual | Sep 1, 2025

The annual festival of recovery, mourning, and preparing for the next harvest.

Writer: Those2Nerds   World: Su-mehr Qiamp   A festival to celebrate the coming of water from the river that hopefully brings about another plentiful harvest to feed them. Yet all the while, to honor the passing of those who were taken by the floods that came during the rainy season. It is a bittersweet taste in everyone's mouth, but life goes on nonetheless, and the community rallies together to help one another face such a loss.   Note: Apply more cultural meaning to traditions, with some having multiple facets to them.
The Last Beacon
Building / Landmark | Jul 13, 2025

The lighthouse that shines for those whose homes are lost

Writer: Demongrey   World: The Million Islands   Among the many places that offer a ring of light that provides a haven from the horrors of the world, one alone stands out amongst its brethren, for it is not meant to offer relief, but peace. Known as the Last Beacon, this lighthouse provides a home for those who are too far gone to return to normalcy, having lost everything and are unable to cope with such loss. All the while, collecting the memories of what was lost so they will never be forgotten long after those that arrived eventually fade away.   Note: Apply more emotional writing to certain places and locations involving specific ideas.
Floating Carriage
Vehicle | Nov 25, 2025

The Floating Carriage was a dwarven invention designed to bring the utility of hovercraft to a technology-fearing Wonderland.

Writer: eccbooks   World: Clark woods Literary Universe   Step right up and meet the carriage of the future. Why might you? Because, good sir/lady, it moves without wheels. Using magic to enable it to float, this carriage avoids all the inconveniences that wagons bring with them. All that is needed is a means to pull them, and all of your worries of unstable terrain fade away in an instant.   Note: Think of more creative ways to create unique vehicles and technology with real-world inspiration.
Drucius
Character | Aug 1, 2025

Drucius is a particularly vicious wardog belonging to Emperor Lucianno.

Writer: Gillymaya   World: Astaeria   Today's special guest is none other than the emperor's most loyal companion, his dog Drucius. Don't be fooled, though. This dog is bred for war and is willing to take a bite out of anyone who tries to harm its master. He is the definition of loyalty and the bringer of terror to those he deems threats to the emperor.   Note: Try to add animals companions with significance to certain characters to add more layers to them.
Goblin Warchief
Profession | Jul 28, 2025
Writer: WreckerDwarf   World: Havenguard   Amongst goblin kind, there is always one that stands at the top of the pecking order, and that is the Goblin Warchief. Brutal and conniving, they climb up the complex social structure of Goblin kind to rule them all. Yet that doesn't mean it ends there; it is a constant fight to stay at the top and be the celebrity that comes with the title.   Note: Attempt to create a more complex and unique ranking system among groups for cultural diversity.
The Dinosaur Killer
Physical / Metaphysical Law | Jul 26, 2025
Writer: SableAradia   World: Game of Tomes   We all know the story of what killed the dinosaurs: a big old meteorite wiped them all out. But what if the dinosaurs themselves were responsible for their ultimate demise, having reached the peak of civilization long before humans ever did? Take a trip down memory lane with the facts that everyone knows, and the hidden history that might have contributed to the dinosaurs' downfall.   Note: Dabble in using an alternate history scenario of real-world events and mold it to fit worlds when desired.
Deepwater Seer
Profession | Aug 2, 2025
Writer: Byebrows   World: Askvìniké   Among the Mörkallen people, there stand the Deep Water Seers, those who are gifted with the ability to connect with their ancestors and preserve their people's history. While being given the highest standing, their culture is what they link to their past, with many of them taking up different roles to maintain it and train the next generation. A variety of practices and traditions allows them to continue their spiritual lifestyle, helping themselves and keeping the past alive.   Note: Delve deeper into the spirituality of cultures to transcend various outlooks on life that they have and those outside of it.

Keeping Up With Standards

Alright then, with another camp over, I have been continuously attempting to improve my articles in the name of standards. The Sagas have been the main project that will be continued for the rest of the year. However, there are occasionally so many side projects in other worlds that I will be working on while doing this as well. I want to see them be just as big as The Sagas themselves and not be overshadowed by them as well. Along the way, I will continue my work on Challengathon, A Year of Challenges, which has been receiving mixed reviews since its launch; therefore, feedback is welcome at this time. As for any other points I mentioned at the beginning of the year, I will continue to work on them to bring about significant change for all who have been following my work. So, keep up the writing, everyone, and I look forward to seeing you later. P.S. In the North America Time Zone.
