The City of Aleri

Theres a bay on the south shore of the King's Gulf, a place hih enough in the mountains to see snow for colder parts of the year where the White River and its distributaries, the nothern ablin river, the meandering Ivory stream in the center, and the slow-moving southern pale river meet the sea and release the gift of The King of The Rivers directly to the domaine of the king of the oceans. . This bay and the three rivers flowing through it have been used as everything from military outposts to pirate heaven and everything in between, but it has very little experience being a city. before the the modern city of Aleri, both the smallest of the great cities and the newest by a facto of melienar, there was the spralling labrynth-like town of Alemi, the smaller rum-soaked bck alleys of White Ship, and the dark mage-infested streets Lu Esti and the mining town of Loetti each, situated along the banks of the white distibutaries,

the most northern and the largest, was Alemi, originally a village built by and under the control of the northern Minian Titans and their kingdom sometime before the transylian coquest ofthe south. This authority ended swiftly when pirates from a drown dead island crashed onto the shores, raiding, pillaging, and burning the little settlement out of existence. Amon the ruins, the pirates devolped a shanty city, which gradually went from being a pirates paradise to just another poor fishing village. It continued this way with its protection coming from the other 3 settlements on the coast. Eventually it was burned down in a massive fire, which engulfed the whole town. It stayed a confusing mess of ruins for centuries before being cleared and made the Porcelain district of The City of Aleri. this is the main residential area of the modern city .the very tip of the little peninsular to the north is still frequented by pirates to this day, some say wh thg express permission of th ealeri family.

The second distinct population center from the geographical tip of the area was White Ship. a true pirates cove, built at the curve of the bay sometime beforee the conquest , its urban sprall was met with the Albin River in the north and the ivory sream to the south creating one of the most densely packed areas in the regions. this sect of waht would become The City of Aleri would eventually be taken over by the pirate king Seasword who used it as a floating brothel and tavern for his pirates. when he retired from the sea he made the little wharf his home using his ill gotten gain s to devleop teh town into an above avarage place to die. and die he did. fell into the citys harbour and never surfaced again. nd the glory of white ship never eclipsed that brief moment. it stayed a pirates haven til the fleet of teh Killgold navy flushed them all out and sold evrything in the city as restitution to cover centuries of lost cargo, they then made the little town an out post of ther navy leverging the families connections with pirates and smugglers to keep a modicum of controll in the territory. the area today is known at the ivory district. the seat of administrative power in the city. it also host the current citys port of Nipha, and all the ports associated businesses.

acros the ivory stream is a place where the forces of magic hold dominion. here between the ivory stream and the pale river, there was once said to be a glade of the very trees that give the whiteroot its name. When the first inhabitants of this land settled here, they cut these ancient whiteroot trees down and used their bar to build the oldest part of ancient Aleri. those trees were some of the oldest magical beings in the old forest, and their felling released the powerful raw magic stored in their branches and trunks into the surrounding area. The natural magic of the trees, now dispersed, was harnessed by these original tribes, and when the pirates of the King's Gulf began to frequent the shores of the area, they found it very much already occupied. They found the town of Lu Esti, said to be a place not even the wickedest pirate dare thread. a dark place of irregular shadows and and twisting alleys. little town stretching from the fork to the coast with its densest part just off the shore of the gulf. The people here specialized in magic wares. Using the unique potency in the area, they advanced the art of magic, a vast plurality of the spells and potions till used in the region of Kimion. To this day, it is a place without said to have laws or authority where travellers go missing in taverns and the brothels and bars accept souls as payments. This section of the city today is mostly unchanged, having escaped the fates of all the other towns by the shear fact that most of the players in the region were simply not equipped to deal with the mages of Lu Esti or any defense they could muster, and those who could see the towns existence as more of a. it was incorporated into the city as it was when the towns and villages around the rivers were consolidated into The City of Aleri. when it was all said and done, the town became the marble distic. today the area is the magic center of the city and makes the city the only one with the exception of the cvapitl with an appointed magic sector within its walls, as all the others deemed them too dangerous and outlawed them within the city, using villages on the exterior of their held land to serve the purpose that the marble district does .

Last but certainly not least is Loetti. When there were no kings in the area, Loetti was the closest the coastal region had to administration. Pass the pale river, there are a number of silver mines near the border of the province of Haffeer that were owned and operated by a family who styled themselves as noble. This was the Aleri family, the current rulers and namesakes of the Grand City that stand there now. This quarter of the coast is where the aleris hail from. It is also where they made their fortune, extracting tons of silver from the land. It was through these means that the Aleri gained their influence over the region, and this influence is what gave them the confindence to call themselves noble. The Aleris were rich and powerful before the conquest of the Transylian Empire, and they managed to stay out of their orbit enough to keep them and the other 3 towns independent. It was mere decades before the rise of classi that King Seasword fell of the peir of the white ship, and not 100 years passed before the killlgolds set up shop on the cost. This marked the beginning of the aleris rivalry with the noble killgolds, as they fought sometimes literally for dominance in the region.pausing only a few times, including when the angels called upon them to take down the classi royal dukes. It was during the reign of King Calis II Angelis that their vying for power came to a head, and they fell into full all-out war with one another. It was this conflict that led to the burning of Alemi, though no one is entirely sure who actually set fire to the town or why. When it was all said and done, both families had lost members, and even a prince of the kingdom had died in the constant fighting. The king demanded that they separate, sending the killgolds back to their city, disolving the outpost they had put down at White Ship, and confining the Aleri to their little ming town. the outcome was th e borders we see today. The aleris were alllowed to take sole and complete control of the Gulf Coast, and the Killgold were told to stick to their own port in the bay of rubies. this was the spar the aleris needed. This permission, along with the finances provided by the newly developed gold mining operations in the East Ktoni Mountains, birth the city of rivers. Today The City of Aleri is an open place, though mistrusting of any other nobles who enter her walls. It is the smallest of the cities by size and population, though its port of Nipha holds importance as a backup port to the goldwater port in the northwest, much to the chagrin of the noble Aleri. Despite being the runt of the great city, youll still find the typical city soilder this time clad in silver and guilded with the purest of gold. the Aleri's palace ahs stood in the same spot for over two thousand years in what was the old town of Aleri, now called the silver district. The mines are still there, enriching the family as they have done for millenia, now gaurded by standing gaurds with royal orders and not mercenary pirates who expect to be paid or will run back out to sea with their pockets loaded with silver. The city is a mix of cultures, origins, and people, all ruled by people bold enough to name themselves noble, not relying on any king to get to the task. its a city in many ways, and that is what Aleri is. a contridcitoin. against authority, against fate, against magic. And against any force arained against them
