The Principle of Perception

Although its name implies a complicated mathematical proof, the Principle of Perception is quite straightforward. It stakes the following claims;

  1. A natural property of magic is that it is imperceptible except to itself.
2. The overwhelming majority of life in our universe is not magically infused.
3. Some things in our universe are entirely constructed from magic, without any corresponding energy or matter.
    Therefore, the Principle of Perception states that anything entirely constructed out of magic cannot be perceived by an overwhelming majority of life in the universe. This extends to things that are mostly made out of magic, where only the corresponding energy and matter of an object can be perceived without magic— regardless of the amount of magic infused into that object.   Simply put, Newmoons cannot see magic. Therefore, anything made exclusively out of magic cannot be seen by them. This renders many spells, creatures, and constructs effectively invisible to Newmoon society, providing a "cover" for magical activity in highly populated areas.

Natural

For consistency, all creatures and objects under the effect of the Principle of Perception are described as ethereal, linking back to this article for bookkeeping purposes.
