Southern Tropics

Geography

The terrain is relatively flat with portions containing gently rolling hills. The majority of the region is covered in an incredibly dense, layered canopy of trees. There is a vast network of slow-moving, wide rivers and tributaries, as well as swamps and marshlands, especially near the coast and the southern edge.

Climate

This region is characterized by a tropical wet climate. It would be consistently hot and humid year-round, with daily temperatures averaging between 20°C and 30°C (68°F and 86°F). Rainfall would be extremely high and consistent throughout the year, with a short-lived "dry" season where rainfall is still substantial.

Fauna & Flora

Flora: The vegetation would be a dense, multi-layered forest with a towering canopy that blocks most sunlight from reaching the forest floor. You would find an incredible diversity of trees, including mahogany and teak, along with climbing vines, epiphytes like orchids and ferns, and a variety of unique flowering plants. The forest floor would be relatively clear of dense brush but covered in a thick layer of decomposing leaves and rotting wood.

Fauna: This biome would have a high biodiversity, with most of the animal life living in the canopy. You would find a massive variety of monkeys, sloths, tree frogs, and a vibrant assortment of birds, parrots, and insects. On the ground, you would find large predators like jaguars and panthers, along with smaller mammals like tapirs and a variety of reptiles, including anacondas and other large snakes.
