Climate

Southern Portion

Unlike the equatorial rainforest, this area has a distinct wet and dry season. The summers would be hot and very humid with heavy rainfall, while the winters would be warm but dry. This seasonal variation is key to its ecosystem.

Middle Portion

This is the classic four-season climate. It experiences warm to hot summers, cool autumns with beautiful foliage, cold winters with snow, and warm springs. Precipitation is spread throughout the year.

Northern Portion

This region has a subarctic climate with long, very cold winters and short, cool summers. Precipitation is relatively low, but the cold temperatures keep moisture from evaporating, so the ground can be moist or even swampy in some areas.

Fauna & Flora

The trees here would be primarily deciduous, shedding their leaves in the dry season to conserve water. You would find bamboo thickets, tall grasses, and flowering trees. The wildlife would adapt to the seasonal changes, with some animals migrating and others, like tigers or other large cats, having to find food in the drier periods.

The forest would be dominated by broadleaf deciduous trees, such as oaks, maples, beeches, and elms, which lose their leaves in the autumn. The forest floor would be home to a variety of smaller plants like ferns, mosses, and wildflowers. The fauna would include bears, wolves, deer, foxes, rabbits, and a wide array of migratory and resident birds.

The vegetation is primarily coniferous trees like spruce, fir, and pine. The ground is often covered in a dense layer of mosses and lichens. The fauna would be very similar to the northern section of the mountain range, including animals adapted for the cold, such as moose, caribou, lynx, wolverines, and beavers.
