Xora's Edge

Xora Hullsmasher had been a Beardspike spike Captain for Years before the Great Split. She had split her time between legitimate merchant trading and targeted piracy and she had been good at both. She had used her early successes to invest in her feature. Xora commissioned a cutlass from Elemental Steel . She had paid a princely sum for a superlatively crafted weapon with an almost unsurpassed edge. For three years it rode her side and was ever her trusted companion. One bloody dawn secured that cutlass in the annals of history.

A small flotilla of pirates had joined forces in order to try to prey upon the relatively new naval forces of the Dwarves. Xora led a three beardspike patrol. They encountered a convoy of dwarven ships being stacked by the pirate flotilla. She ordered her patrol to immediately attack. The ensuring battle was fierce and without quarter. During the height of it Xora had rammed the flagship of the flotilla. While boarding it one of her crew was about to be back-stabbed. Without hesitation she threw her cutlass. As it flew it began to glow with a brilliant sapphire light. When it struck the light erupted causing pirate and dwarf alike to cower back. When the light faded the pirate had been split in twain as had the hatch door behind him. Then a whirling sound accompanied by the cutlass flying back to land comfortably in Xora's hand. The sapphire in its pommel and hilt now glowed with faint light and it's edge was even more keen. The battle continued but the pirates of the flagship morale had been broken.

That cutlass became known as Xora's Edge and served her well for decades. Her daughter bequeathed it to her mother's successor. For centuries it has been the symbol of office for the Clan Mistress for Clan Waverider .
