Max Waymire

A veteran of several conflicts for Direct Action, Max looks at himself as having given blood, sweat and pain to his corporate overlords, clawing his way to his position with the aches, pains and scars that go along with those conflicts. He's damned well earned his way to second in command, which makes the presence of Barstowe Clarke and Alek Cooker an insult to him.   He's gruff but fair, surly, but doesn't take it out unnecisssarily on those beneath him, in fact praising them when they deserve it and giving them a good kick in the arse when they need that. But he hasn't mastered the 'like' part of leadership, falling instead on respect and fear. He polices with that same ethic, and those denizens that come into his sights see that he takes all that he doesn't on his men out on them.

History

Archer had never served with Max before this posting. Other than Barstowe, he'd not served with any under him to Jamy's specifications. However, professionally they knew of each other. Max knew that Archer was said to be someone that got things done, similar to him, but was always short of a promotion. Seeing has he made his way to his own posting, Barstowe came into this wanting to show him his capabilities, hoping that he'd recommend him for the same.   He's found everything about Archer as described. Cool under fire, tactically gifted, fair to those that serve under him, loyal to his men's needs, and competent in his job. However, he's not been able to get that spot to show him everything he's capable of, because of his Adjutant, Barstowe. He's not in the chain-of-command, but reports directly to Archer, like the manservants of old. He's in the position that Max should be in, and it eats at him, though he tries not to show it and do his job to the best of his ability.   Doing his job is really easy, it turns out, as Archer did pick a great team. He just wishes he was able to do more...
