City Protector

The rank of City Protector was a rank introduced to Magicians' End by Prince Rygarde during the age of the Limit Protectorate in the early sixth millennium APC and used for a very short while afterwards by the Loyalist Thaumatic Army Council, although it was quickly replaced by an equivalent role named the General Advocate.   City Protectors were given supreme authority over the city they were charged with ruling and reported only to the prince himself (or later the Army Council). Many older forms of government were brought to an end by the imposition of a City Protector, with perhaps the most notable being at Katrapetch, where fourteen thousand years of the administrative leadership of the Raja and the Court Circle came to an end in 5155 APC under the new City Protector.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The City Protectors were given a feathered hat and a brass chain of office which identified them as the appointed ruler under the world government.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

City Protectors were direct appointments from either Prince Rygarde himself, during the age of the Limit Protectorate or later from the appointment board of the Loyalist Thaumatic Army Council. They could be removed and replaced entirely at the will of these masters with no local input.
