Pathfinder Gate Headquarters
Pathfinder Gate Headquarters is a military and scientific installation owned by the Planetary Consortium and the The Pathfinder Corporation. It was created as a forward base from which to launch operations into the Vulcanoid Gate. Explored by Grimm and Lux, they saw that it is a moderately-sized installation. They saw that it contained several labs near the Gate, staging equipment for launching missions into the Gate complex, multiple nanofabricators, a large shared common area, and tiny closet-like dorms.
It is estimated that 50 people operate out of Pathfinder Headquarters. Most of the people who work there are either marines, researchers, or scouts. It is managed by Ulysses Banana.
Purpose / Function
Pathfinder Gate Headquarters was created to house explorers, soldiers, and scientists that are working on the Pathfinder Project. It is meant to act as a forward base for people entering the universe of the Gates.
Alterations
Before leaving after her first visit, Ifera launched a bunker buster into the chamber containing the Gate. It successfully exploded, but the Gate was closed before an assessment could be made of the damage.
After the destruction, the Headquarters was altered in design. The Gate is set in an open-to-the-vacuum domed chamber connected to several antechambers. The antechambers contain samples labs, vehicles and equipment, and airlocks. This change was made to make the facility less vulnerable to a direct assault through the Gate, and to allow some isolation between the alienness of the Gate complex and the interior of the facility.
Architecture
The complex is a military space installation on the outside of a large asteroid. It is made of a series of interlocking corridors, climate-and-atmosphere controlled. Each corridor is composed of a metal rectangular prism encased by a cylindrical inflatable tent.
