Planetary Consortium
The Planetary Consortium is a governmental body formed from a conglomeration of six Earth megacorporations. The headquarters of the organization is on Mars , and the Consortium also owns habitats on Luna and in Lunar orbit. The Consortium is profit-focused and traditional in nature.
As a point of policy, it makes sure to give each of its subjects a comfortable, easy life. In exchange for that comfort, it expects more or less a lifetime of labor. Of course, it prefers to reframe that exchange as the gift of consistent employment.
Structure
At the top of the Planetary Consortium is the Corporate Council. Six councilmembers sit on the Corporate Council. Each member of the Corporate Council is the head of one of the six megacorporations that survived the Fall of Earth. The Council is broken into six seats that each correspond roughly to the resources owned by the corporations pre-conglomeration.
The current head of the Corporate Council is in the Energy Seat: Ikumi Higa .
The other seats on the council are anonymous. The other five council roles are Security, Habitation, Intelligence, Manufacturing, and Agriculture. Each runs the organizations and businesses that govern their area of command, and they come together for decisions on the trajectory of the society as a whole.
Public Agenda
To provide a healthy and happy life for all transhumans.
Assets
Most or all of the material wealth of the former Earth civilization lies in the hands of the Consortium. They possess the asteroid belt mining facilities. They own the entirety of the planet of Mars, as well as Earth's moon. They have the Solar System's largest commercial fleet, as well as the largest collection of shuttles and ferries. They also possess the plurality of transhuman egos: 40% of transhuman egos live on Mars, and 10% of them live on Earth's moon.
History
The Planetary Consortium was founded following the destruction of Earth civilization. The remaining heads of the megacorporations came together to discuss the situation. Each of them had few resources and few assets compared to the infinite wealth of yesterday, but when combined, they possessed nearly all of the resource-generation and habitation facilities in the Inner System. The decision to conglomerate became easy, then. Doing so allowed them to lay claim to the entire Solar System at once, though several other political bodies have since rebuffed certain claims.
