Gehenna

The volcanic, ashy slopes of Gehenna are streaked with bleak cascades. The realm's western border should connect with Baator, but due to complex realm wards, joins with the icy seas below Acheron instead.

Geography

Volcanic, but pulled more strongly by the dismal cosmic forces of negativity, Gehenna lacks the vivacity and fire of its northern neighbours. Instead, the volcanism is mostly underground, though rivulets of magma still crissrcross the surface, as well as several deadly waterways.   Most notably, the River Styx tumbles through this realm, along with several steaming, poisonous springs that bubble and foam down the rocky slopes.   The earth here is hard, grey stone, which juts up in shards that cut with a light touch. The ground is usually coated with a thick layer of ash and pumice.   Gehenna's underground is mostly flooded by magma, but does have narrow, spidery cave systems subject to frequent collapse and gas floods, populated by swarms of pestilent horrors.

Localized Phenomena

Gravity in Gehenna is skewed. A stone dropped here, in absence of wind, will not fall straight down, but at a 45-degree angle. This tilted gravity causes ambulatory creatures to feel as though they are climbing uphill, even when traversing a level surface.

Climate

Exhaustingly hot, Gehenna's steam banks are constant enough to be taken for fog. The "snow" of ash from its many volcanoes is similarly common. Acid rain is the only kind this realm gets.   Also due to the amount of volcanism, earthquakes are frequent here.

Fauna & Flora

In addition to the hordes of minions of the many deities who realm here, Gehenna is home to several Yugoloths as well as various exiled Archdevils, some of which are quite large. Barghests are native to this plane, though seldom born on it.

Natural Resources

Gehenna is rich only in sulphur and misery, and its trade with other realms is mostly in foul magic, dark secrets, and living souls.
