Kingdom of Durain

The Kingdom of Durain is a magocratal feudal state. The mages, Counts, Barons and knights all support the King, Choto Durain. His father the first of their dynasty, was part of a succesful sorcerous family that worked to protect his town. He was reasonalby successful where others were not, and gathered followers until being crowned king.
  Compared to many nations, the countryside has a number of Cartaries for production and transport. These are considred property of the nation, and their use is administered by the Counts and Barons of their respective territories.

Culture

The upper class wear cotton, with pants and vests being common. With detailed overall patterns, brighter for men, more neutrals for women.
  The lower class tend to wear wools, both fitted and pleated. Their tunics being dipped and often having gradient colors, in a more muted pallet. They tend to wear wide hats with many colors.
  Tapastries and rugs are common in many homes, with the rug making being a culturally signifiant practice. These are often made in the local community with designs varying by town. Several Tions make their production fairly quick.
  Card games are especially popular within the kingdom. They use a deck of ancient origin with five suits; the Stars, Moons, Hats, Axes, and Hands. They are particularly popular during the largest festival days. The Spring Water festival has a feast of spring vegetables and fish. They also have public chants and dances, with fasting before the feast and tests of strength being popular. Climbing ropes , masts, and trees are all comon in competitions as well as Water Jousting.
  The Harvest festival of the squashes is in the fall, with games of luck such as cards and dice being espeicially popular. Tiny wood sculptures are burned in late night fires in hopes for luck. Dances are held with both group dancing as well as partner dancing. It is traditional for the unmarried but eligible youth to date another different youth each of all three nights. It is also expected that most houses have an herb garden or small vegetable garden. These have spices, salad vegetables, and somtimes an apple or quince tree. Spiced preserved jams are prized, and eaten with bread and fish for a traditional breakfast.

Demography and Population

Fire Gnomes are about half the population. Humans, Halfings and Dwarves also have significant nubmers. Elves and The Touched are also not uncommon.

Technological Level

They are in competition with some organizations from Soramizu and Trocon to produce magic items and restore broken ones. They hope to get many conveniences back from after the The Plague of Silmora and subsequent wars. The Ninefold Academy of Artificers is one of the largest magical academies in the nations of Bellflower. It also has a significant library that only received moderate destruction during the wars.

Religion

The Host of the Nomele is very popular in Durain, but so are the practices theFaith of the Spirits and Ancestor Worship. The local saint is named Harrine the Rabit Guide, she is known for her divining. Her stories are why the hare is used as the national symbol.

Agriculture & Industry

They have focused on vegetables and tubors in their agriculture. They also have a lot of chickens for local eggs and produce. They are sufficiently productive that they are a large exporter of food. Their remaining industry is in their magic schools and academys.

Infrastructure

The roads are some of the best maintained in Bellflower, and the transportaion network is excellent. They are getting more populace and handling it well at this time.

Magic items of all sorts, books and educational materials.
Judicial Body
The Knight Judiciars are a group of knights who act as local judges when the crime is not significant enough to warrent the time of a Baron or Count.
