TCEC: The Counter Earth Council

The TCEC is a player council for the development of The Counter-Earth RPG. The council is formed of 13 members, with 9 being voted into position directly from the player base. These 13 members will meet on a weekly basis with Temujin Calidius and his 2 chosen representatives (Jarl's) to discuss the RPG and the community. The council will discuss how the world is evolving and vote on new feature ideas and other issues.   The TCEC is also the members that discuss holiday seasons, special events to add to the game and community involvement, such as opening up the world to OOC events and other such activities.   Although the player council has no direct involvement in the development of the game or coding (of SLColonies), they speak on behalf of all other players in the community and bring up ideas that the community has come up with. Votes are cast and it is decided whether or not said new features would be integrated based on player interest.   TCEC Members also form the official OOC Moderation group of The Counter-Earth. These players can be approached in-game for help and assistance and will help ensure that the game remains fair. They have the power to make decisions on roleplay issues and the ability to eject troublesome players.   Any requests for actually banning members are brought forth by the council and voted on as a collective during the weekly meetings.

How to become a TCEC Member

Although 2 chairs on the TCEC are decided by Temujin himself as his left and right hands in developing The Counter-Earth RPG, the other 9 chairs are not decided or picked by the staff.   The 9 player chairs are chosen by the active community every 6 months by votes. Those interested in being part of the TCEC and who can meet the minimum requirements are to let us know that they are interested. When it comes time to appoint new members to the council, it will be announced to the wider community.   All players who seek to be on the council will have character pages set up on this website that detail their goals while they are on the council, how they plan to make the game better and what area they will be focusing on.   We need a diverse team. Members are focused primarily on combat, while others on crafting and trade. Some are focused on roleplay etiquette and so forth. Having a diverse team will mean we can really have all of our player's best interests in mind when sitting down at the weekly meeting table.   All voting on council members will be done within the Second Life environment when the time comes. Our focus will be on making sure we fill the seats with members that target specific areas of the game.   Being on the TCEC is a great responsibility, and although you will still be able to experience the game as a player, you will be considered a Council member. Players will come to you with ideas and concerns, and it will be your duty to represent the community and voice those ideas and concerns back to the rest of the council.

Committees

The committees below are the areas where members of the community can join together to discuss certain aspects of the SLColonies system and The Counter-Earth RPG as a whole. Each committee has a group for discussion and these committee members form the TCEC council by having 1 member from each committee voted in as a representative to the players for each TCEC meeting. A committee chair is a 6 months term. Every 6 months, all committees will vote on a new chair which will initiate a new 'era' within The Counter-Earth RPG in an OOC nature.   Players can be members of as many committees as they wish, however they can only chair one committee represented in the TCEC.

Classes & Professions

This committee focuses on the professions available within The Counter-Earth, making sure they are balanced and that they are providing enough content to keep the members playing those classes active and enjoying their time in-game.

Combat & Warfare

The combat committee focuses on the combat features of the SLColonies meter. Is combat balanced, are the scaling damage and armour of the warrior classes doing what they are supposed to? Weapons ideas, stats, balancing and so forth.   This committee also sets up warfare within the lands. Whether it is written lore (working with the Lore committee) or setting up battlefields for planned raids that will affect a storyline.

Communications

The communications committee focuses on external communications outside of The Counter-Earth RPG. Their focus is to bring in new lands to The Counter-Earth and have them added to our map as it expands. The committee works closely with other committees to ensure new lands seeking to join the RPG are balanced so that the Supply & Demand of resources as well as the overall economy are not negatively affected.   This committee also works closely with current members of the RPG world to ensure they are actively involved in the betterment of the system as a whole.

Crafting

The crafting committee focuses their efforts on all the crafting tables of the RPG. Are they working effectively, are skill levels well balanced to give players of certain classes good content and achievements to obtain. Should there be more craftable goods, both compound ingredients to create more 'steps' and interaction within crafting, and rezzable final products? How is crafting balanced with the supply & demand of resources available within different zones?

Economy

The economy is one of our most important goals in The Counter-Earth. We need to put in a lot of effort to ensure inflation in the economy isn't too much of an issue. What is the value of the economy, is there a huge gap between poor & rich? Is money too easy to obtain?   As much as this committee looks into the economy of the game as a whole, they will also look into the economy within particular regions by looking at market movements.

Events

The events committee works at setting up both IC and OOC events within the realms of The Counter-Earth. Keeping the community active and bringing in new visitors to the lands. Looking at holidays, themed events to bring into our worlds both local to a specific city or region, to global where anyone can participate.   Events are designed to keep the gameplay fresh and active.

Lore

The storytellers. This committee works at evolving our world's stories, timelines and all the things that put it together. They make extensive use of this website to ensure everything is covered in great detail and that much-needed additions are made.   The chair of this committee is an author of content on this website and assists in keeping content up to date and new articles created.

Resources

The resources committee look at the overall resources available in the game and what they are used for. What can each resource make and which professions and crafting tables make use of it? Is the resource waste of time, is it needed? Do we need more resources to expand on the game and abilities?   What is the supply and demand between zones for certain resources? Is it available everywhere or only in specific areas? Should it be available in more areas, or remain limited?   Supply & demand is a big thing within The Counter-Earth. Without supply, the crafters have nothing to do. With too much supply, there is no demand at all, therefore no value. Have just enough supply & demand, and a perfect balance, then the economy will thrive. Everyone will remain busy to ensure supply and demand are met on a daily basis and the economy will have real value.

Roleplay

The roleplay committee focus on roleplay etiquette. Our game is not designed to be an OOC (out of character) game only, nor is it made to only cater to paragraph roleplayers. There needs to be a balance here to keep the community active and open our doors to all types of players. How do we ensure that the roleplay in The Counter-Earth is fun and inclusive for all? What is considered too much and what is too little?
