The OOC Rulebook
These rules extend to the whole game in general. These are not individual laws to cities and zones within the RPG.
Each Zone may have its own laws composed by its current rulers and are treated separately. Such laws would be considered In-Character and used for role-playing purposes only.
Below are rules which all players of The Counter-Earth must adhere to:
PvE zones also do not mean you are safe from any interaction. Through proper roleplay, combat can be initiated legally.
Membership
The Counter-Earth is a membership/subscription-based service. This is not only to reduce trolling but as a way to donate to the sim towards its tier, without requiring donation boxes around the land. Membership costs L$25 per 7 days (L$100/28 days) and gives you many benefits, such as:- Access to 14 exclusive zones, teaming with lore. Beautifully built areas with resources to gather and areas to craft, trade and roleplay.
- Ability to rez items on land (limited to 50LI per player and within the privacy of homes or dedicated trading areas such as market stalls).
- You can teleport your friends in, however, if they have no membership, they will be limited to 30 minutes on land (per 24 hours) before being teleported back to the landing area. They will also have non-group restrictions in place, such as no scripts (no HUD and meter will work), no rezzing and so forth.
Generic
While this land is a roleplay environment. It is not a strict 'in-character' zone. We do encourage players to take on a role and stay within character, though it is not a requirement for everyone. Not everyone is a para-roleplayer willing to commit so much time to their day, please respect this and be flexible with others here.- The land is G rated. This means that child avatars are permitted on the sim but this comes with other rules which must be adhered to.
- Any nudity is permitted only within the confines of your private home, inside your skybox not in view of the general roleplaying areas.
- Sex is not permitted on the sim in any form. You may emote within the confines of your private home, but adult animations are not permitted to be used anywhere on land.
- Although The Counter-Earth is based loosely on the concept of a planet counter to the earth, like John Norman's Gor, we are not a Gorean roleplay environment. Slavery is not accepted on this sim.
- You must be dressed in ancient earth attire. Meaning, medieval as a minimum and older. Please use the Welcome Island for this purpose, before travelling to the mainland.
- Being a G rated land, keep cussing to a minimum.
- No racism, sexism or other harassment/bullying is tolerated.
- Keep avatar complexity down. Below 100,000 is good, less is even better.
- Keep avatar scripting to a minimum. Limits will be put in place as the sim grows and we find a good balance point. We would appreciate your assistance in reducing your scripts by removing resize scripts in all your clothing and items.
- No HUDS, no meters of any kind except SL Colonies.
- Any repeat offenders will have their membership revoked and be banned from re-entering the sim in its entirety.
Building
Members have the ability to build on the land, these are some of the restrictions in place:- 50LI permitted per player. Anyone over this will have objects returned to them.
- Restricted to rezzing within confines of own homes on land. Any other rezzing should be temporary and picked up on leaving the scene.
- Certain areas, such as markets will have stalls available. These are for rezzing SL Colonies vendors only and count towards your total LI on the sim.
- Only permitted to rez SL Colonies items. These are vendors, gatherables, crafting stations as well as all rezzable items crafted from within the SL Colonies system; such as furniture, decorations and so forth.
- In no way are you permitted to rez custom scripted beds and other scripted furniture. Please see MODS if you need something not crafted within the SL Colonies system for approval. These restrictions are in place to control scripts, memory usage, textures, LOD, lag and adult animations on the sim and will help on keeping performance to a maximum for everyone.
Combat
SLColonies now has PvP available within the HUD. Specific zones will be set up to enable PvP combat and certain areas will be designated as safe zones where combat is not permitted. PvP zones do not mean you can freely run around and kill other players. Roleplay still takes priority here.PvE zones also do not mean you are safe from any interaction. Through proper roleplay, combat can be initiated legally.
