Vihoaginio Beauregard

Vihoaginio "Hoagy" Beauregard was an Alois man who lived in the last part of the Fourth Era and the beginning of the Fifth Era. He was the uncle of Clara and Marcilla Beauregard, his brother's daughters.

Beauregard was born in 8018 on his family's ranch. After the Alois Confederacy was pulled into the The Twenty-Year War, Beauregard went off to fight in the war along with his brother, Henrio, in 8036.   The brothers fought alongside each other for most of the war until 8041, when Vihoaginio caught a severe disease and was sent home. It took him a year to heal from this disease, by which time he was recovered but not fit for combat, unable to endure physical activity for a long period of time. Determined not to let this deter him from helping in the war, he returned to the army as a supply management officer.   Beauregard was unable to mourn his brother in a healthy way after his death in 8047, the war's final year. After his brother's wife passed away some years after this, he returned to his family's ranch following a failed business venture to raise Clara and Marcy. Beauregard was a good parent to Clara but not to Marcy, taking out his own distress at his brother's death on her. This compelled Marcy to run away from home, after which point Beauregard, along with Clara, moved to a hunting village on Aurora Point.   Though Clara reestablished a good relationship with Marcy through writing letters, the same did not happen with the womens' uncle. Beauregard remained stoic and distant. He and Clara were rescued by Marcy in 8076, after a military construct called Malevolence 5 was accidentally unleashed upon the island, throwing the area into chaos and killing every other member of the hunting village. The two returned with Marcy to the mainland, where she built a larger house for them.   After this, Beauregard was able to work out his problems with Marcy with the help of a therapist, and the two's relationship drastically improved.
