Erd Getrica
"If the Ren Berig alone lived in Beurum, they would never have built a city of this scale. Several of their chieftains have told me this. But they realized that a strong trading center was necessary for their prosperity." - Mallan Wolfram, to Rhoadin FredersonErd Getrica was the most important and largest town in the lands of the Ren Berig. Meaning "The Veiled Valley" in their native language, it was a cultural center and sacred gathering space for the Ren Berig. It was situated next to the Vagabond's Sea, along the River Neigue. The most significant quality of Erd Getrica was its location in a space that was powerful with magic and occupied by the mysterious Elder Druids. Rather than being ruled by a chieftain or council, Erd Getrica was governed by the Elder Druids, who were said to be immortal inhabitants of the place for eons, granted their everlasting status by the Spirit of the River Neigue that flowed through the area. The Elder Druids were could take the form of animals, trees, or human figures, and passed judgement on the decisions of local administrators through such natural events as storms, plagues, or processions of animals through the town. On a more grounded level, Erd Getrica served as one of the few economic centers of the Ren Berig. With the River Neigue opening up to the Vagabond's Sea, the town allowed the Ren Berig to trade with Trebai merchants from across the Western Commons, as well as Red Makovai merchants from upriver. The city was also a gathering place for chieftains and druids across the Western Commons. Because of its sacred status, war and raiding within Erd Getrica was highly taboo, but such things did happen occasionally.
