Hoi Clan
Patient, Mindful, Decisive
The Hoi Clan rule the northern island of Rabirimyaku, a cold, mountainous region of pine forests, narrow valleys, and steep coastal cliffs. Their land is difficult to reach and even harder to invade, which has shaped them into a cautious and defensive people. They value discipline, silence, and self-reliance, believing that isolation keeps their culture and faith pure. Every pass and bridge in Rabirimyaku is fortified and maintained by Hoi engineers and archers, who are known across Maikhohoto for their skill in defense and mountain warfare.
Their capital, Yasimato, stands on the southwestern coast, built into the lower slopes of the mountains. It serves as both administrative and spiritual center for the clan. The ruling council of elders meets there under the leadership of the Hoi daimyō, and from its keep they control the main mountain passes and trade routes. The city’s shrines honor Maikho, Rowë, Kauro, and Shinzo, reflecting the clan’s balance between stone and sea, permanence and change.
The Hoi remain cautious in the age of the Seven Clans. During the Maikhohan War they stayed neutral, allowing no army to pass through their territory without consent. That neutrality became their strength: today, they act as gatekeepers between the northern provinces and the south. The clan trades little, speaks little, and fights only when forced, but their walls and passes make them one of the most secure and respected powers in Maikhohoto.
