Arch-Anchorate of Polymede
The Eşimtugist Arch-Anchorate of Polymede, on Argo often referred to as the Polymedan Church, and locally often just generally called the Arch-Anchorate (since it was the only one on that planet), is the de-facto highest religious authority on the planet of Polymede. Although the Blessed Octrons of the Church of Holy Rradzipaxy on Argo officially were superior in rank, due to the remoteness of the faithful on Polymede as regards to Argo this part of the church would operate in practice completely separate from the mainline church, which over time led to some major discrepancies between the two branches, which for the sake of brevity henceforth shall be referred to as "Mainline Eşimtugism" and "Polymedan Eşimtugism".
Although originally being classified identical to any other bishopric on Argo, it was in the year 519 SC, when reports of the succesful colonisation of Polymede would set the stage for a reevaluation of the status of the church's most distant flock. In that year, the Arch-Anchorate of the Grand Fleet, as at was then still called, would become the Arch-Anchorate of Polymede, which besides the name change would become largely autocephalous through the First Polymedan Act, which gave the Arch-Anchorate of Polymede the right to form their own Electoral College for the appointment of their arch-archorites and allow them to solve issues that normally need to be resolved by the Octrons, basically becoming a completely independently operating organ, merely overseen by the rarely sent over justiciars from Argo.
Foundation and Early History
With the arrival of the first colonists on the planet of Polymede in the latter years of the 5th century SC and the founding of the Twelve Colonies, an estimated 90% of the 300.000 colonists that arrived initially were of the Eşimtugist faith. To provide spiritually for them, about two thousand priests and a few hundred monks came as well, many with the distinct intention to serve as missionaries on the new world and convert the locals to the faith, something that they later would prove quite successful at. Due to the number of colonists originally making the trip to Polymede, it was decided by the Holy Octrons that the fleet would make up a new arch-anchorate from the date of launch.Although originally being classified identical to any other bishopric on Argo, it was in the year 519 SC, when reports of the succesful colonisation of Polymede would set the stage for a reevaluation of the status of the church's most distant flock.
