I. Origins & Creation

Cambions are not the result of natural hybridization.
They are crafted.

An Anabus—whether in succubus, incubus, or mid-cycle form—harvests reproductive material from a realspace sapient, reshapes it inside their internal subspace crucible, and re-deposits it into another host. The resulting fetus develops with subtle but profound alterations:

enhanced psionic permeability

atypical neural development

heightened limbic response

refined sensory processing

potential for predatory instinct

subspace-affinity genetics

These changes remain well within “post-Gobivirus human genetic variance,” making them undetectable to standard panels.

A Cambion is a designed offspring, not a random mutation.

II. The Cambion Condition

Most Cambions live their entire lives unaware of what they are.

Some notice:

a strange charisma

ease in acquiring lovers or followers

luck in high-pressure social situations

a tendency toward predatory careers

unexplained resilience to addiction or sensory overload

recurring dreams of red nebulae or infinite banquet halls

Others grow up within Indulgence cults, conditioned from childhood to believe that they are:

chosen

transcendent

“the future of the human species”

This dovetails dangerously well with the Perfected Path religion’s doctrine of Homo Sapiens Viriens. Many Cambions gravitate toward these groups, either consciously or because of subtle psychic nudges from their progenitors.

III. Predatory Instinct

All Cambions share at least one trait:

Predation.

For some, this manifests as nothing worse than ruthless ambition:

corporate ladder-climbers

master manipulators

charming grifters

social conquerors

For others:

compulsive seduction

parasitic relationships

cannibalistic impulses

serial predation

ritualistic indulgence

even murder

The instinct varies, but it never goes away.

IV. Subspace Susceptibility—But Not Weakness

Cambions are highly susceptible to RAIs—but uniquely, they do not suffer from it.

Under normal circumstances, a human hosting a Sentient (or even Minor RAI) risks:

tumors

subspace burns

horrific physical deterioration

Cambions instead experience:

sharpened senses

boosted strength

enhanced cognition

psionic clarity

emotional confidence

euphoric symmetry with the RAI

The cost, of course, is the same:

Eventually, they become a Perfect Vessel.
But unlike humans, they do not crumble on the way there.

V. The Social Ecology of Cambions

Among Humans

Cambions blend seamlessly into society, hidden among billions.
Their minor Mutations read as:

“good genes”

“excellent health”

“high potential”

or “charismatic personality type”

No medical scan reveals their true nature—unless performed by a specialist with subspace Equipment.

Among Kthonikers

Cambions are prized for their:

subspace intuition

easy access to Vices

natural ability to negotiate

predisposition for Callings

resilience to contamination

But the trap is always there:
RAIs see them as larval hosts.

Among Wights

Wights absolutely hate Cambions.
Cambions read as “unfinished Sentients” to them—something between prey and rival.
When discovered, they are hunted and eaten with extreme prejudice.

VI. Vice Resonance

Cambions can embody any Vice—not just Indulgence.
Their inherited trait is not the type of Vice but the efficiency of feeding upon it.

Cambion Vice mechanics:

SP gained from their chosen Vice is doubled.

When they successfully tempt another into indulging that Vice, they regain 1 FP.

This creates a positive-feedback loop of predation and vitality.

In essence, every Cambion is a miniature predator-ecosystem waiting to bloom.
