Beron the Grim

Title, Name, Descriptive Name & Position

Beron carries the nickname "the Grim" because he rarely smiles and his eyes are usually drawn into a stern frown. Those who know him, however, will notice that he does have a sense of humor and a good heart. Still, it's clear he can live up to his name when needed. He holds the rank of Frostwarden and is responsible for training new Rune Warriors. It's said that he reliably guides his recruits through their training and shapes them into capable fighters.  

Age

Beron is approaching sixty, but years of training have kept him in good shape. He’s no longer the fastest, and his reflexes have dulled somewhat, yet his experience more than makes up for it. More than one recruit has overestimated themselves and found themselves on the ground faster than expected.  

Appearance / Physical Condition

Beron is strong and fit. His grim grey eyes look out from a rugged face framed by a thick, copper-red beard. His long hair is tied into a knot at the top of his head. He’s rarely seen in civilian clothing. During physical training, he often goes shirtless, revealing the many scars that mark his body.  

Background

Born in Galdra as the son of a servant, his path wasn’t predetermined—but his will was stronger than any circumstance. He joined the Rune Warriors, committed to five years of service, and was soon thrown into the Golem War. The early days of the war were chaos: his unit overrun, comrades lost, orders ineffective. Beron survived by adapting quickly to changing situations. When the war ended, he was no longer just a warrior—he was someone who knew how to endure. For the past twenty years, he’s been training recruits, not as a teacher of rules, but as a mentor of improvisation.  

Drive & Goals

Beron’s goal is simple: none of his students should fall as his comrades once did. He doesn’t believe in rigid obedience but in warriors who think before they strike. He teaches flexibility, quick action, and decisiveness—because the ice creatures don’t offer second chances.  

Family & Relationships

Beron has no known family—or at least never speaks of one. His true bond lies with the military, and his loyalty with the warriors he shapes. He knows nearly every active Rune Warrior, having trained many himself—and each morning, he honors those who have fallen with a quiet ritual.  

Reputation

To most recruits, Beron is a rough but fair instructor. He’s known for being straightforward, honest, and reserved. Among the officers, many were once his students and still hold him in high regard.
