Beron the Grim

Title, Name, Descriptive Name & Position

He is known as Beron the Grim—a nickname born not of mockery, but of reverence. Those who know him know his gaze: sharp as ice-steel, unmoved like the walls of Virkin. He holds the rank of *Frostwarden*, responsible for training new Rune Warriors. His position is not administrative, but elemental: those who endure under his guidance can endure the ice itself.  

Age

Beron is in his late fifties, yet age is no hindrance to him—it is a burden he wears with pride. He no longer leads the charge, but he still stands before every young warrior—and more than one has learned that experience outweighs muscle.  

Appearance / Physical Condition

Beron is powerfully built, with a body that has lost none of its hardness over the years. His face is angular, his gaze piercing from eyes streaked with grey—like snow beneath steel. He wears his uniform plainly, without medals, but the scars on his coat hang like decorations from past years. When he speaks, the air stills—not because he is loud, but because he never says anything without meaning.  

Background

Born in Galdra as the son of a servant, his path was not predetermined—but his will was stronger than any origin. He joined the Rune Warriors, pledged five years of service—and was soon thrown into the Golem War. The early days of the war were chaos: his unit overrun, comrades fallen, orders ineffective. Beron survived not by luck, but by adaptation. And when the war ended, he was no longer just a warrior—he was someone who knew how to prepare.   For over twenty years now, he has trained recruits—not a teacher of rules, but a mentor of improvisation.  

Motivation & Goals

Beron’s goal is clear: he wants none of his students to fall as his comrades once did. He does not believe in rigid obedience—but in Rune Warriors who think before they strike. He teaches flexibility, swift action, decisiveness—for the ice creatures offer no second chances. Some call him harsh, others cold—but his hardness is protection, and his coldness is method.  

Family & Relationships

Beron has no known family—or at least never speaks of one. His true bond lies with the Order, and his loyalty with the warriors he shapes. He knows nearly every active Rune Warrior, has trained many himself—and even those who have fallen receive a silent ritual from him each morning.  

Reputation

To recruits, Beron is a trial in human form. To officers, he is a guarantee of quality. And to the ice, he is a quiet enemy who never forgets what it once took from him.
