Drake

Drakes are a genetic descendant of Dragons that lack their ancestors' wings, intelligence, and size. They move around much like a tyrannosaur and share a similar body plan. Their forelimbs are much more capable, however, and are used while moving at high speeds. Typically an adult drake stands between seven to ten feet tall, but crouches to less than six when moving. Very unlike their draconic cousin, the Wyvern, drakes do not bear true scales. Instead, they have tough skin that is speckled with tiny, keratinous specks, giving their hide a bit of a sandy feel. They lack much of the variation of dragons, displaying a more limited range of colors and abilities. They are only found in shades of red, green, brown, yellow, white, or black, and bear a much less saturated tone. Regardless of color, the vast majority of drakes can only breath fire, with a small minority of white and black drakes breathing ice and acid, respectively. They are incapable of sustained streams of breath, however, and instead use it sparingly as sudden bursts.
