The Kintowers

The "Kintowers" is the collective name given to the Westwatch and Eastwatch towers of Kintower Park, in NRC.

Purpose / Function

Originally, the Kintowers were watch towers built for the original town of Reet. As their names indicate, they were used to survey the surroundings in the the western (Westwatch Tower) and eastern (Eastwatch Tower) directions, though their positions were more northwestern and southeastern within the town itself.

Alterations

Other than periodic maintenance and general reinforcement kept as non-visible as possible, the Kintowers have been kept in much the same state of their original construction.

Architecture

Each tower was constructed more or less identically, from silt brick and mortar, with wood and thatch roofing. The towers also have small stables and storage areas attached to one side.

Defenses

Each tower has a series of arrow slits along its upper floor and a few around their middle height. While fairly defensible if needed at the time of its construction, historians and maintenance surveys have indicated it would likely not hold up well against a more modern fighting force.

History

Likely just buildings of necessity and utility for the time they were built, the Kintowers were among the only buildings of old Reet to not Reet begins to sink. As such were chosen to be preserved as historical landmarks within the city during New Reet Founded. It is said the buildings, having stood unchanging and unflinching against the trials of time and nature, represent the resilience (or stubbornness) of New Reeters.

Tourism

While the towers are normally closed to the public, they are opened on some special occasions and for certain city tours. On new years eve, they are open as a private location for city VIPs and nobles who have donated large sums to the city.
