United Nations

The United Nations governs the largest amount of people and surface area in the Sol System. Besides Terra, the UN also maintains peace on Luna, Ceres Station, and continues to try and keep the Jovian system civilized. Luna is still considered a territory under UN jurisdiction, but has been mostly autonomous after the Space War and the signing of the Tycho Treaty.

The United Nations maintains a small standing army and terrestial navy for peacekeeping operations on Terra, as well as to deter incursions from the Unfederated Nations Alliance. However, the largest part of the United Nations armed forces is the United Nations Space Fleet, which was founded on July 10th, 2089 CE. The UNSF is the largest celestial navy in humanity's history, maintaining over 700 vessels scattered acrossed the Sol System.

The United Nations has a complex relationship with the people of Luna to say the least. Most citizens of Luna are fine with being UN citizens, however, there are certain groups of people that believe that Luna should be governed by its own citizens. Truth being told, the UN would rather not have Luna become its own political entity as a majority of Terra's economy and imports come from Luna. As long as Luna is a colony, materials and goods cost less for people on Terra to purchase and allow the UN to refrain from extracting materials from Terra itself.

The United Nations has held a positive relationship with the Venusian Parliament for almost 130 years now. This correspondence between the two governments started just before the UN v. MC cold war, and would prove to be beneficial to both sides during the Space War. Trade between Venus, which is considered the vacation point for the whole Sol System, and Terra remains steady as food is always a needed commodity.

As the largest government body in the Sol System, the United Nations makes an effort to keep interplanetary relations stable. However, the UN is not afraid to use force to protect its citizens and the resources that Terra needs to survive. Because of such, the relationship between the United Nations and the Martian Confederacy has always been strained. After the Space War, and the destruction of most of the Martian Confederacy Navy, the relationship has improved, though slowly.

Ceres Station is a protectorate under the United Nations, and therefore its citizens are are legally UN citizens as well. However, as Ceres Station much farther out in the Sol System, the United Nations delegates the common and menial tasks to the Ceres Local Administration. The Local Admin is notorious for overlooking the lower class population and being biased, especially when bribed. This has caused many people in the dilapidated older sections of the Station to turn to the Skulk, a major organized crime collective, for employment, protection, and sustenance. This has given the Skulk a large amount of power on Ceres Station and has led to clashes with the Local Admin security.

Although still a territory, the Jovian System is far enough out that the United Nations has little in the way of control. There are too many people and not enough resources which means that the UN Peacekeeping Ops are stretched thin across the mulitple stations and the Callisto colonies. However, the UNSF marines stationed within the system augment the law enforcement. Nevertheless, the ProxGen Security Force is responsible for keeping the Jovian system civilized, though usual with substantial force.

The United Nations Headquarters is located in Upper New York City, but it also operates multiple outreach centers around the globe. The most major UN centers are located in:
