Durval
Merchant's capital of the west
History & geography
An expanding world
A mayor with a vision
At the most south-eastern point of West-Theria lay a small fishing village and every day the fishermen would watch the big trading ships passing by. Sometimes they were able to trade a few goods by boat, but overall interaction was minimal. That changed when the major of the town, Desmund, ordered the building of a bigger dock, reaching deeper into the sea, making it possible for bigger ships to reach the land. This proved to be a game changer for the whole continent, as this new trading route was a whopping 50% faster then the Amthali-route. The small town underwent a rapid growth of unprecedented proportions as merchants from far and wide now considered the new port as the new place to be. The year was 171 when the new popular trade-hub was named Durval, meaning "trade sea" in old-therian.Longest reigning family
The mayor of village, Desmund, lived long enough to see his small village grow out to one of the 3 grand cities of the west. He was concidered a great leader by all inhabitants, and had lived his whole life with a great sense of honour and pride. It was only natural for everybody that his son would take over after he died of old age. His family would hold the power in Durval untill the day of today, but it wouldn't always be as kings. During the Godwars, from 362 to 529, the family would be seen as mere stewards, as Ark-aal was considered the true lord of the west. The line of Desmund were known vesajists, and they accepted the rule of Ark-aal. The biggest treath to their reign was the civil war in 528, where Arnethians would answer the call of their lord, and rebel against the primarily vesajist rule. The rebels were not able to topple the government, and fled the city. A year later however, the city would be taken by Arnethius and his army, and the family would now serve as stewards under his command. The 11 years that followed the durvali would be heavily taxed by the arnethians, who were waging war with Arkalon for dominion over the western lands. After the The rebellion of Arnethius , the family would rewelcome Ark-aal with open arms, to accept them as their lord once again. While the vesajan lord usually came down hard upon those that helped the arnethians, he was charmed by the gesture of the family. In addition the city of Durval was also of great importance to him, so Ark-aal took no risk when he decided that the line of Desmund would remain the sterwards of the city. After The god-wars ended, the line of Desmund would now be independant, and rule in their own name. The once again royal family followed the amthali tradition and took "of Durval" as their second name.
Leadership
Durval is a monarchy, and the king is chosen by blood. While the king holds most of the power, he is aided by a council. The Council contains mostly advisors, chosen by the king, each with his own reponsibility.
"King Lokar ll of Durval" currently sits on the throne which had been in the family since "King Desmund", founder of Durval in the year 171.

Conflicts
Rei-do-Kaan clan
For decades the ships on the sea of trades have been falling victim to acts of piracy by the rei-do-kaan clan, and there is nobody more present on these waters than the durvali. The relationship between Amthal and Durval, despite being competitors, has always been good, and they combined forces to secure the sea of trades. The amthali fleat would primarely try to shield the territory from the pirates in the west, while the durvali would protect it from the lioxian treath in the north. However, the sea is vast, and merchants remain at risk to encounter an enemy.
