Valeusse (Val-oose)

Valeusse is a city in The Martellite Empire. It is located within the Duchy of Ariella, and serves as a crossroads between the capital city and other cities within the duchy itself. Valeusse was founded shortly after the empire's formation to act as a buffer in case of a siege on the capital. It has as a result been well known as a trading hub, with many merchants valuing it as a vital stop before reaching the capital of Silverhall.   Until recently, it was also home to a temple to Karsten. The priests were run out of the town during the crisis caused by The Beast of Valeusse, and have not returned since.   Aside from the crisis, Valeusse is known for a relatively peaceful atmosphere. Its role as a siege buffer is rarely used today, as the majority of Martellian conflicts rarely reach Ariella. Bandits steer clear of the area, fearing that the Beast may still be lurking around somewhere, allowing some silver lining from the otherwise sour note left by the event.
