Lord Mayor

A Lord Mayor is an elected leader of a major city within the The Free Cities of Härtenstadt. They hold supreme authority over their city, put into check only by the people who elected them and neighboring Lord Mayors. Each Lord Mayor is tasked with ensuring the city's finances and defenses are in order, as well as allocating resources towards research.   Elections for Lord Mayors are held every ten years. If a vote of no faith occurs, neighboring Lord Mayors will meet and declare a winner from the candidates.   Every two years, Lord Mayors meet in Härtenstadt proper for a council they call Vulkantanz. The Vulkantanz was named as such due to the fiery tempers of attendees past, which often resulted in mass brawls within the council buildings. As a rule, Lord Mayors are very passionate about the city they represent, and as such will go to great extremes to protect the interests of their constituents.
