Parrieth Bailey
Parrieth Bailey is the name given to and old motte and bailey that was restored by Lord Soglund Parrieth. Soglund had bought the bailey, which used to be called Raven’s Rook, after he retired from adventuring.
Raven’s Rook had been useful when the kingdom was expanding, and during the logging boom that had popped up while building the capitol of the empire, King’s Point, but after that it was too remote, and thus had been abandoned and subsequently taken over by an ogre and his band of goblins.
Soglund was the leader of a group of adventurers called the Iron Goats. One of the Iron Goats missions was to explore an old motte and bailey called Raven’s Rook. They ultimately cleared the bailey and surrounding areas of the nasties that had taken up residence.
Soglund had fallen in love with the forests and foothills where Raven’s Rook was located. It was so different from the grassy, flat plains he had grown up in. He gained an audience with the king and asked if he could buy Raven’s Rook. The king, having nothing to lose, and everything to gain with this loyal retired adventurer of renown owning a remote castle, granted his request.
Raven’s Rook was renamed Bailey Parrieth and it was repaired and Soglund began raising goats and sheep. Soon people gathered around the bailey and started a small hamlet. Although remote, the bailey and small village did quite well. They were very self-sufficient and secure, and rare thing along the edge of the frontier.
Bailey Parrieth is in the eastern frontier of the empire of KVASSI , as well as the eastern frontier of the kingdom of EASLER . To the west is the Palasar River and beyond that is the Riddari, and vast expanse of gently rolling his and large flatlands of tall grass. To the east is the Ortus Mountains and beyond the mountains is the coastal Fairdowns home ofthe Empire of Bine sworn enemies of the Kvassi Empire.
In DATE01, a band of orcs showed up in the area. They called themselves the Black Cloud Clan. They were a large warband led by N’gog’nal (Nuh-gogg-nall) the Cleaver and Arinna (air-REEN-nuh) the Dark.
N’gog’nal was a huge, brute of an orc. He ran the clan with a brutal but efficient fist. He was nearly 7’ tall with a swarthy completion with a greenish tint. He wore a bone skull of a horned dragon for a helmet and a grey fur loincloth and boots. He carried a great axe made of a jawbone with sharped teeth. Arinna small and slender and always wearing a dark cloak with the hood covering her head. Those who saw her swore she was always surrounded by a dark fog, like she was in a shadow, even in the bright sunlight. No one was sure of her race, but her build looked decidedly elvish, so it was thought she was drow. Arinna was the brains of the clan, and she was a master tactician. The Black Fog Clan would swoop down on a village at dusk. The attack was always preceded by a dense fog that caused the guards and watchmen to fall into a deep sleep, a sleep they usually never woke of from as the clan killed nearly everyone. The fog would also cause forgetfulness in the elderly and children. Those affected by the forgetfulness would wander around for a day or to, then snap out of it, but their memories from before the fog were gone. The clan never killed the ones affected by the forgetfulness, when mean a lot of children were orphaned, and couldn’t remember their families. The Emperor and King sent troops to the area to try to kill the clan, but they seemed to disappear in thin air, sometimes, when the pursuing troops got close to finding the clan, the soldiers would forget who they were looking for and be in a daze for an hour or two. As the problem continued, many local castles and villages joined the quest to find and destroy the clan until an army of locals, kingsmen and empirical troops were scouring the countryside for the villainous orcs.
