Personal history
Tomo was always an excellent pilot, but she wanted to touch much more than the clouds. Riding in the sky, straddling the stratosphere just so close to the breaching the rim. Stars barely beyond her reach, she wanted the mysteries of the cosmos and she would have them. She signed up for JAXA after leaving the air force, and finally got to take her place in the stars.
She was picked for an atom powered rocket to reach parts of space humans haven't traversed before. The launch went off perfectly, sending her past the moon months ahead of schedule. She nearly succeeded if that asteroid belt didn't scooch over just to the left. Her ship was destroyed, and thrown inside the vacuum of space. LLelas the Comet pulled her into his atmosphere, and offered her more than just a ship. He offered her the entirety of space.
